The ‘Run-in’

Bolton potentially have some problems. Carlisle tonight, us on Saturday then Exeter & Crawley. Potentially, Crawley could still be in with a chance of play-offs by the time that final fixture comes along. Four games against sides that all really need to beat them.

All four of our games are massive, but hopefully, by the time we play Bradford & Walsall, their seasons will be over. Sometimes that can be dangerous, but it is generally preferable to playing sides who really need points to go up or stay up! And it isn't beyond imagination that Bradford win their next three games and are still in with a shout of the play-offs themselves by the time we meet.

There are definitely a few twists & turns in this season yet, with some really interesting fixtures tonight...

Bolton v Carlisle [Carlisle win please]
Bradford v Tranmere [Bradford win please]
Forest Green v Exeter [Exeter win or draw please]
Leyton Orient v Cambridge [Orient win please]
Newport v Crawley [Crawley win please]
Stevenage v Cheltenham [Stevenage win please]
Walsall v Salford [Don't care too much, although, Walsall win & we win, then Salford can't catch us]

Wonder how many the gods of football will deliver? As long as we get three points, any of the above will be a bonus!

Three more cup finals!
The rest of the results didn't go our way, only the FGR v Exeter was useful to us, but as long as we keep winning it doesn't matter!

THREE MORE CUP FINALS!!!

We are on the brink of promotion to League 1. Let that sink in.

This forum has been pretty horrible at times over the last 12-18months with people holding strong, differing views. Some people have stopped posting and some have even fallen out. Let's put that to bed now and get behind this team as Keith says, we play out 3 cup finals. Lets all enjoy it together and see where this ride takes us. This is history in the making.

Totally agree.

We ALl have our thoughts and some us like to make those known. Others think them but keep them to themselves. Such is life BUT we are ALL Shrimp fans through and through and we all want what is best for our club.

Long may the differences continue but possibly in a more genial manner.... :D

If we beat Bolton and Walsall

And Bolton lose to us and draw with Exeter

THEN WE ARE IN LEAGUE 1

YES WE WOULD BE PROMOTED

We are that close

Exeter know they have to beat Bolton to have a chance of the Play Offs. Exeter are a good side.

Obviously we want to win on Saturday to have it in our hands but a draw would still leave us with a chance although it would mean relying on Exeter not losing to Bolton.

3 cup finals but the biggest of all is Saturday, I'm still not letting it sink in until then. If we beat Bolton then I'll not be able to think about anything else!

Cannot stop thinking about Saturday, it has me filled with excitement (which will probably turn to nerves at around 14:55. Touch of sadness though that we can't be there (understandably so) What time will it be a good time to start drinking on the day?

Nerves are kicking in already. Would be brilliant if Sully could be fit for Saturday as all hands to the pumps will be required. Probably best to start drinking now and before you know it 3.00pm Saturday will be here.

Now I'm nervous! Twenty minutes ago, play-offs looked almost certain but Grimsby's determination to get relegated led to throwing away a lead in the last ten minutes to lose and Bradford giving in, in the 91st minute to Salford now means if we lose both our last two games, we could miss out on the play-offs.

On the other hand, win them both, we could still sneak in to the automatic promotions!!!

Two games left, anything could happen!

Let's beat Walsall so we can relax. PLEASE!!!

Met a Walsall fan yesterday. He wished us good-luck for Saturday. Said Walsall are poor, with "too many journeymen players who don't care about the club". He added "hopefully for you [us!], the ones who know they will be getting released at the end of the season won't really be bothered, with nothing to play for."

Don't think they like Bolton Cheating Wanderers either!

Worse case scenario after this Saturdays games.

Bolton lose 76 points promoted
Morecambe lose 72
Tranmere lose 72
Newport win 72
Salford win 71
FGR win 70
Exeter win 69

Not forgetting the best scenario, which is obviously Us and Exeter winning

Harrogate beat Cambridge tonight
Exeter beat Bolton
FGR beat Tranmere
Cheltenham beat Newport
Colchester beat Salford
Shrimps beat Walsall

Cheltenham 82
Cambridge 77
Bolton 76
Morecambe 75
Tranmere 72
FGR 70
Exeter 69
Newport 69

Weird how both us and Blackpool are lined up for the play offs just like we were in 2007 :o
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Most certainly NOT Newport for obvious reasons.....can just imagine Kevin having the final laugh at our expense..... :o

Salford probably the most difficult with Tranmere not far behind.... :?: :?: :?:

If we end up in the play-offs, I think we can beat anyone... as long as we keep eleven players on the pitch.

Let's get three points today to be sure of the play-offs. We can then go in to the last game of the season in a relaxed mode with nothing to lose and every chance of a massive gain. Lose today and suddenly it is twitchy bums time!

Please Gods of Football...

Tranmere to draw with FGR.
Exeter to copy us. If we win, Exeter win at Bolton. If we lose, Exeter lose.

If we draw & Exeter win, we could actually still go up automatically, but equally, we could miss out on the play-offs, so I reckon I'd rather go in to the last game safely in the play-offs. I don't think my heart could take it otherwise!!! :D
