Brilliant result if not our best performance. We've beaten them once, and we can beat them again.

Very very professional performance in the 2nd half. They played the best half of football they had in them in the first half and still managed to come off 2-1 down. Got to be difficult to take for Tranmere players that. Ours to lose, let's show our quality and see it out. Up the Shrimps!

Good grief I know I am a convert to the Derek Adams way but I'm not sure I can go through that again!

Tranmere in the first 45 were the best team I have seen this season.

We didn't seem to be able to play it out to Carlos or Mcalinden at all.

Right, finished leaping round the living room now

You can't underestimate what a top result that was! Did we deserve it, maybe not 8-)

Who cares, at last we've had the run of the ball which ain't happened too often this season.

Tried to get a ticket for Sunday in the grand lottery but not heard anything. I guess those handing the tickets out see my Padiham address and figure it's a small village near Birkenhead, so no chance for me.

We beat a team who perform the dark arts nearly as well as Bolton and my cup filleth over with joy. Well my wine glass actually!

For those of you lucky enough to be there on Sunday be the twelfth man! Only half time but we can do this.

UTS.

I disagree saying that we didn't deserve the win today.

We played a fantastic defensive game in the second half. We deliberately slowed down the game after the intensity of the second half. We made sure they couldn't get the ball through. Yes they had the possession but they had no ideas in the final third and that's a sign of a great defensive play. Possession isn't everything.

We did exactly what we needed to do today and got a great lead going into the second leg.

According to Tranmere forum we only won tonight due to our cheating and time wasting tactics

Nothing mentioned on their about the ref bottling a 97th pen for us

If we keep our cool on Sunday we go to Wembley it's that simple

You don't have to have 75% possession and 65457 crosses that land on defenders heads to deserve to win a game of football. That was a superb tactical and amazingly disciplined performance from us and we got everything it deserved. The commentator over hyped the Tranmere performance when in truth they were very one dimensional and Derek knew they would be. Do not be fooled or play down that result. It was a master class of tactics, coaching and player performance.

This 100%. Just back from the pub and I am absolutely buzzing with that result and performance. Tranmere had fewer shots on target than us yet they had 3 times the possession. Quality of chances is more important than quantity and if we can keep it tight 2nd leg then we're off to Wembley. COYS!

Briliant result tonight! First half they had the possession, puttingin plenty of mainly aimless crosses in,yet still went in at half time 2-1 down to two well poached goals/ Second half we reduced them to just crossing the ball from side to side with very few crosses coming in. They reverted to trying to get someone sent off as they lost their way. Well done tactical genius DA and well done to the players for a great shift. COYS

Brilliant result tonight. Just shows how we need Derek Adams when we go into League 1 after beating Newport at Wembley ( including a certain Kevin Ellison!) ;)

A very hairy first half - I think more through Tranmere coming out of the traps absolutely flying.

We changed shape I thought briefly to match their diamond which didn't really work, then switched back to 4-3-3 and made sure our wingers were working back to help double up defending the flanks, which helped steady the ship.

We weathered the storm excellently (Lavelle and NKP were superb) and managed to grab a set piece goal, probably against the run of play! Frustrating to let them equalise but can't say it wasn't deserved, then we did excellently with another good set piece to take the lead into the break just as the game was petering out to half time.

Second half was when we hit our stride a bit more - holding our shape as Tranmere started to get a bit frustrated and ran out of ideas. We pinched the ball in midfield a few times but couldn't quite make anything of it.

First half was very much backs to the wall/bodies on the line etc stuff to weather a Tranmere storm as I thought they started superbly. Then in the second half, we controlled the game so well and really took the sting out of them - it was a much more comfortable watch.

Cooney was my MOTM. Beaten a couple of times in the first few mins by Blackett-Taylor, but soon after found his feet and sussed him out to put in a brilliant display. I've had a check and he made 10 tackles! Made some very important interceptions too.

How many ups and downs was that? Could have been 4.0 down after 30 minutes.
Dereks tactics arent always pretty but 3 years ago we would have lost that and been out of the tie.

Enjoyed watching at the Vale with Danny Carlton as guest, great night, roll on Sunday!!

Oh, great meal too, thanks Mr. Chairman Mike Hinchliffe

How did they get away with removing Farnys medical bag to the touchline, grrrr

Yeah the medical bag was a strange one. Never ever seen that before, cheeky scousers. The other one Which raised an eye brow was when Carlos got assaulted twice in the second half when play was stopped and got booked for the privilege. Don’t think the officials really saw what went on and just decided to book anyone in the vicinity.

They do seem to think an injury stoppage is an opportunity to have a go at the opposition as we saw at the Mazuma with Songos’ red card. Any long injuries on Sunday just group up and keep away from them.

Could we have put a meal on and the match at the Mazuma or has the Covid jab status prevented that ? I would think the club will receive a nice fee for all the NHS facilities it has provided for the jabs.

Is that who it was? I thought it was some guy who’d been on Homes under the hammer

Agree about the meal and drinks, we had enough cheese and biscuits for 10.

Carlos maybe got the card for kicking the ball away, which is what caused knob-cheese (sorry, O'Connor, I think ;) ) to try shoving him around.
