Travel to Wembley for 3pm KO

Postby redrobo » Sun May 23, 2021 3:29 pm

Details of coach travel should be available tomorrow I would think. :?:

Will no doubt be a logistical nightmare with restrictions on numbers allowed in a coach.

Train travel is possible but I was quoted £120 return from Oxenholme for a departure circa 6am.

Blackpool playing the day before will a put a strain on local firms due to 2 drivers per coach and their driving hours.

Do we think alot of "glory fans" will be put off this time though due to the pandemic? Worth noting also that last time we went, Wembley was "new"? When are we expecting ticketing arrangements to be announced?

Yes I think last time there might have been lots of neutrals who saw it as an opportunity to visit the new Wembley.

Also I am not sure how much the town as a whole has been following our progress with no fans allowed, have we flown under the radar? It's hard to tell when your not out and about talking to people.

Hopefully even 3500 should see all our core fans get a ticket.

Having got my ticket for Wembley, just booked train from Arnside to Euston. Depart 8.25 to Manchester Picc. then on to Euston arriving at around 1.00 pm. Back on the 19.40 to Manchester then change to Barrow train arriving 23.50. All trains going via Manchester that day due to engineering. Bought a Railcard using Tesco vouchers so price was £72. Would have gone 1st class if tickets had been available (as they were yesterday) from £95 but never mind. At nearly 72 this could be my last visit to Wembley so happy to be extravagant.

Apparently maximum numbers on a 52 seat coach is 28 due to Covid restrictions. The cost for a coach is £1,600, so prices are going to be about £55, which is a hefty sum. Apparently, the Boardwalk will be running coaches and Shrimps Trust members get a £5 discount.

I've booked the three of us on a Boardwalk coach, it was just under £44 each for Trust members. 6am start with a free bacon butty. The alternative we looked at was driving to Crewe to avoid the engineering, then getting a train from there. But the coach seemed reasonable and a lot simpler

Newport have already issued details of coach travel for the game.

https://www.newport-county.co.uk/news/2 ... rters-bus/

I would assume that our club will be providing details sometime today.... :?: :?: :?:

In the details of how to get tickets it was mentioned that Wembley would be providing travel assistance / details in due course. Just hope that it's done PDQ as those wanting travel may be getting concerned about a lack of info so far.

Looks like there is no coach travel from the club or from the Trust.

Me and my Dad are just holding off booking the Boardwalk coach for the moment as we'd be coming from Lancaster, so if the club organise a pick up point in Lancaster that would make life a little easier.

However, there doesn't seem to be too much movement from the club regarding coaches. Would be good if there was some clarification over whether the club will be organising coaches or not so we know whether to jump in on the Boardwalk coaches or give it another day.

I do get your point Neil but I can also see it from.the clubs perspective. It must be a nightmare trying to sort everything out.

I know the Trust have been really trying to get things sorted with the club and local businesses. Credit should go to Charlie Edwards for putting on however many coaches he has.

IF the club can't be bothered then at the very least they should have posted on here or on the OWS so that fans knew of potential problems.

I would have thought that the club should have made tentative arrangements before the Tranmere game just in case we got to Wembley.

The club have failed its loyal fans if they are not to organize travel.

I'm usually very appreciative of what the club do BUT on this occasion......NO.... :!: :!: :!:

Have those fans who bought tickets for the final been made aware of no transport... :?: :?: :?: or is the only avenue to get there via coaches booked through Boardwalk and if so do the fans know... :?: :?: :?:

:o :o :o :o

Provisional arrangements though would have been arranged prior to Sunday's result?

The Boardwalk are doing coaches with a discount for Trust members and "confirm their support of our partners", I think that is the nearest you will get. The coaches start at the pub and pick up at the Mazuma.

Fair play to Charlie Edwards for doing this, he will be busy next season sorting out all the Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth, Wigan, Ipswich and Charlton Fans, to name a few.
Would be great if the Club could have a fanzone marquee similar to Plymouth, Oxford and Forest Green
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Surely there should havre been something on the OWS or even on this Forum to tell fans young and old of the travel arrangements.

Some older fans may not be aware of the Boardwalk arrangements.....

Hate to be critical of the club after such a splendid job post the semi but this lack of communication is poor in my opinion.

They're a football club not a travel company.

Yes it would be nice but I can imagine finding coaches at such short notice at the current time far more difficult than normal. Coach companies have probably furloughed drivers as they aren't doing day trips etc so probably don't want the hassle of bringing staff back for a day. The reduced capacity will be making everything more expensive and there are probably considerations on insurance if there was an outbreak linked to people spending 10 hours on a coach together.

As is becoming pretty usual, there are those on here waiting for the club to spoon feed them what they should do, in this instance it’s coach travel.
If anyone bothered to chat to anyone at the club or venture a phone call (it’s been relatively quiet on the phones this afternoon) I believe you would find that coach travel is being sorted, they aren’t advertising it as there are limited spaces as it’s one person, two seats.
So try calling instead of moaning, it’s like a bunch of bloody kids on here at times!!
Now get your homework done or you can’t watch next week!! :D

I may be missing something obvious, but why would you sort out coach travel and then not advertise it?
