Depends on how far you want to travel or what you mean by upmarket.

Ones I'd look at outside Morecambe and Lancaster are:

The Sun Inn - Kirkby Lonsdale - always good food
Avanti - Kirkby Lonsdale - good food and service
The Inn at Wray - Wray - OK food
Highwayman - Burrow - very good
The Masons Arms - Bowland Bridge - well worth the journey
The Inn at Whitewell - a gem

Locally:
Pizza Margherita is always good
Simply French is pricey but when good is very good
1725 is a really good tapas in a beautifully refurbished building
Mung Mee is one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to
Pebbles is always a good meal

I love Artisan but I don't think its open in the evening.
VIVE LA REVOLUTION!

We enjoyed Mr Jones (where Chicago Rock was).

Reasonably priced self-service buffet. Carvery, fish and chips, pizzas and quite a few oriental starters and main courses, including a mussels and squid selection I wouldn't have expected for the price.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!
