It's like my gorgeous wife, who I trusted and knew exactly how to treat me and get the best of me, has been carrying on behind my back. I was a little suspicious after I heard she'd been seen out for coffee over Christmas with a brash twat from Yorkshire. But when I asked her about it she said a few of the right things but not wholly convincingly (I was in love so I fell in with the silent replies - so i thought the idea is so ridiculous it doesn't really deserve a full and proper answer and I'm at fault for asking). So we had this weekend break in London. It was spectacular, I was happier than I've ever been. Then the day after we got back, out of the blue, she just upped and left. Yes there were more rumours but I dismissed them. The day after that I saw pictures of her on Facebook with the brash Yorkshire twat, looking gorgeous and saying how committed she was to her new future.

I still feel for her and wish her well but deep down I really hope the pair of them discover eternal pain and unhappiness.

How to go from hero to zero in 72 hours. On Monday DA had led us to a Wembley victory and promotion to League One for the first time in our history. He had developed a strong side who never knew when they were beaten. 72 hours later we heard Mr Adams had applied for the Bradford job some months ago and had even apparently advised Bradford on their retained list while still being employed by Morecambe Football Club. What happened to the professional who oozed integrity and signed a three year contract with Morecambe Football Club. ? Apparently this was not an accurate image of the man who briefly managed our beloved club. As if this was not good enough he will now no doubt sign several of our players to help in the cause at Bradford. A friend of mine who is a Portsmouth supporter text me with the message "The rat has deserted the ship". I couldn't possibly comment!

Very good analogy ,Mr Bum ( tee hee) but if I may elaborate. Your wife tries to ease your pain by buying you a new house in a more afluent part of town and secures you a pay rise too. Your standing with the local "talent" doesn't go unnoticed and soon your having to cut your grass , trying to keep the lawn stripes straight, whilst they wink at you over the fence. Not a bad problem to have?
You also find out that your cheating ex wife gets diagnosed with a horrendous STD from slumming it. Worked out quite well in the end i think you'll agree ;)

Just watched an interview with him at Bradford saying his job was to get us promoted and that's what he has done quicker than expected so that's why it was time to leave, really

In which case if he gets Bradford promoted next season does he then walk away from his final 2 years because it's "job done".

Very good :D

My one was slightly different.

After 5 or more years of hanging around in dive bars, drinking beer that tastes like it’s been squeezed from a dirty rag, I’ve been offered the opportunity to hang out with the cool kids in the finest wine bar, sipping from champagne. However, they won’t let me in, despite offering free tasters of premium wines from west London.

And finally, I’m in! And it’s everything they promised. The finest wines, great atmosphere and just one big party. Exhilarated I throw myself fully in. Renew old friendships, smiles all round and dance until the early hours.

Then I wake up in the morning with a massive hangover and my wallet and phone has gone.

I agree. Heard mixed reactions from the clubs Derek has managed regarding this. He gets teams promoted from league two but never really tested himself again at league one level, only Plymouth and then he was let go. It will be interesting to see what develops their and whether he lasts that long with being such a big club. I appreciate what he has done with us but would have loved him to test himself with us at league one level, sadly it wasn’t to be. Hopefully like to see Alex Neil but happy with Hilly, Ardley apart from Sol.

Like it or not, Bradford are a big club and the biggest club Derek has managed in his career. You can see exactly why he has gone there in a shot. Yes, we will be playing a league higher next season but are we are League one Club? I don't think we are by a long way. We don't have the infrastructure, the training ground or the fan base. We are here on merit after a miracle season but we have a long way to go to match clubs like Bradford. Accrington are having a good go and developing off the field as they establish themselves as a League 1 side. Fleetwood invested in a state of the art training facility a couple of years ago. We need to do similar things.

Yeah it hurts and we would loved Derek to lead us in to the promise land but surely you can understand why he has gone?

I agree. But I do wonder whether keeping us in League One would actually have looked even more impressive on his CV? Probably, he's mentally more disposed to winning than battling, so a promotion race in League Two again suits him better.

The biggest risk to him is not achieving instant success at Bradford. Their fans make it very clear that they won't give time for change & development. Not being in the automatic promotion places by Christmas could make for interesting reading.

If DA's job was to get us promoted as he claims can I assume his move to Bradford is on the same salary he received at Morecambe? Of course not. Whatever justifications he makes about his move he has followed the money and in my mind destroyed his reputation. It's awful behaviour to be consulted about Bradford's retained and released list while he was employed by MFC and I am afraid he will at the same time have lined up several of our squad to go with him! I suspect it's goodbye to Cole Stockton, Toumani Diagouraga and Yann Songo'o at the very least.

I have read through some of the BC fans comments on twitter and they are demanding 4-4-2 and guaranteed promotion. The demands on him are massive compared to what he had here but 2 or 3 decent seasons there and he could be in the Championship. On the other hand, lose 5 or 6 in short succession and he could be back on the Rock n Roll. You have to respect that he doesn't shirk a challenge.

He could have stayed here and battled to survival but then what? No signs of any significant investment off the field or on the playing squad. I'm not being negative, i'm still in a post Wembley haze but looking at it from Dereks pov you can see why he left.

He joined us as an out of work manager looking for a way back in and leaves us a 4th placed playoff winning manager. All he didn't do was walk on the bay and turn water in to wine! Of course he is in a better position to negotiate a more favourable contract, not that that has owt to do with me and you.

I also suspect you are right about the players on their way to Bratford. Also include in that list Cooney and even Phillips both of whom have been retained by Burnley.

The one player I hope who decides to stay is Sullivan and locally based Wildig.

I understand DA's salary is nothing to do with me but I do find his explanation to leave us as job done implausible. It's job half done with the task of establishing ourselves as a League 1 club abandoned by him. I find his interview for the job at Bradford some months ago and his helping Bradford to decide their retained and released list breathtakingly unprofessional. In effect, I suspect he has discussed with Bradford the Morecambe players he would bring to Bradford during the time his salary was being paid by Morecambe.

He said he was asked to get us promoted and he has done that. Job done.

As for being interviewed in December, he must have done that with MFC permission or surely we would be pursuing them for tapping him up?

Sorting out the Bradford players out of work hours is surely his prerogative? His performance as our manager didn't suffer so we have nothing to complain about.

Your suspicions about tapping our players up whilst here may be right but until we know different, they are just unfounded.

Maybe we didn't deliver on the promises we made Derek?

I think as long as compensation has been agreed then Bradford are in the clear on him sorting out the retained list.

"Maybe we didn't deliver on the promises we made Derek?"

I think this has something to do with it even going back to Christmas maybe he felt the club weren't matching his ambitions and he wasn't happy with a few things, we know he wasn't happy about the training facilities although I still don't know why.

I would hope Burnley are consistent in preferring their players to be in League 1 like they were with Phillips in January when they lent him to Accy.

The players & staff didn’t even have a changing room - it was the kit van & a porta-loo by the Astro pitch. Better than training on a flooded field but he obviously believed the setup we had at the Uni wasn’t sustainable.
