Brilliant news and there will be some Yorkshire tears in the caravans in Heysham and Middleton. Really impressed that Cole is going to test himself in League 1 rather than dropping back in to League 2.

Great news, he's definitely going to bag a few in league one ( yeah! League one! Who'd of thunk it!)

Jim dished out quite a few two year contracts in his final summer at the club (2019). Off the top of my head, he gave two years to AJ, Conlan, Cranston, O'Sullivan and Halstead.

Anyway, great news about Stockton! I agree with SR that it is a real statement. There were a lot of assumptions that we'd just get bullied in the market after DA sodded off, but keeping our player's player of the year and one of our most important and best performers from last season is excellent. Hopefully will spur the others into signing if they're not quite decided yet.

From the interview, sounds like he's happy at the club and was waiting on word from SR to see if he was wanted, and sounds like SR has been enthusiastic about keeping him!

Excellent news and 2 years is even better.

Wonder how DA feels about it.....

Really pleased with the retain list. Only concern is the loss of another Central Defender and hoped that Ben Pringle could be given another contract as for me he has something to offer.

Trying not to be too bothered, but Cole was a focal point of Dereks tactics, so im glad his chips have been well and truly peed on..

Really happy Cole has stayed. If Vadaine can do it in League 1 then Cole can. The grass isn’t always greener. So many players go downhill after leaving us. Hope O’Sullivan signs next.

Cole will need help, hope SR plays or adopts a 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 so Cole doesn't get isolated

What we really need to hear is that Carlos has signed another 12 months extension (taking him up to two years). No rush to sell him if he does, but can let him go if the right club comes in for him (both for us financially and his career).

So how did that work out then?
