Club announces plan for season tickets

Morecambe Football Club is delighted to announce that all season ticket holders for the 2020/2021 campaign are being offered a full refund of the price of their season ticket

The club hugely appreciates the loyalty and support shown by Shrimps' fans throughout last season and recognises that, whilst iFollow allowed everyone to watch our promotion campaign, this was no substitute for seeing games in person at the Mazuma Stadium.

The club understands that some fans may not want to take up this offer, and therefore commits to ensuring that any refunds not claimed will be added to the funds already raised by the Shrimps Trust through the 'Raise the Roof' campaign to cover the area behind the Bartercard Stand and improve the matchday experience for all.

If you were a 2020/2021 season ticket holder you can select your preferred option HERE

This offer precedes the club's ground-breaking initiative to recognise the importance of our fans and make seeing live football at the Mazuma Stadium more accessible and affordable to a greater number of people than ever before. Season ticket prices for 2021/2022 will not be increasing, despite promotion. Instead, we want to decrease prices based on how many season tickets are sold, with the aim being to hold the title of best value season ticket in the whole of league football if we reach our target.

C Prem Season Tickets will cost a flat £420 across all age groups and at all levels of demand because they include suite access, and all other area prices will not include suite access. Current C1 & C2 season ticket holders will be contacted directly by the club to discuss their options over the next few days. The nominal £20 charge for under 14s is simply to prevent season-tickets being taken for juniors, but not used. It will also enable all season ticket sales to be counted towards the totals to maximise the chances of us hitting the lowest possible prices for all. If we fail to hit our targets prices will simply revert to 2020/2021 levels.

To achieve the lowest possible prices, we are going to need the support of everyone who loves the football club. Having set out the club's vision to be sustainable and competitive at League 1 level by 2024, we now need to accelerate every part of the plan to achieve that vision in the coming season. We need you to tell your family, friends, workmates, neighbours, and anyone you meet in the whole North Lancashire and South Cumbria area that the Mazuma Stadium is the place to be on matchdays. The more that get involved the better the deal for everyone, in what has the potential to be the best collective bargain in the whole of football.

Morecambe FC needs your help to ensure a brand-new bright tomorrow that everyone can be part of!

I have had a C2 season ticket since the new ground opened giving me access to the “suite” before, during and after games . Am I right in saying the above statement says only C Prem now only have access ?

This is absolutely incredible and should be applauded loudly.

Those worrying about financial stability of the club need to stop, trust in the board and let them do their job. Get behind it and get it spread. Even the higher tier prices are fantastic but I really hope the town gets behind the club here

If the club gets stuck on 999 season tickets I'll chip in one from across the pond just to help everyone else.

Wow.....the club should be applauded for trying something completely different than any other pro football club in the UK.

A few months ago I posted along with others that I didn't want a refund for season 2020/2021 and although finances are tight I stand by my decision of not wanting a refund.

I hope that fans take up one of the options and help towards financing OUR club as it steers a course through the unknown world of EFL1.

Get behind the idea and JUST GO FOR IT.... :!: :!: :!:

However the decision not to allow Season Ticket Holders in C1 and C2 seems a bit off. Unless it's because of concerns about Covid, but the club could be loosing some valuable revenue from the lack of beer sales etc. pre and post match and at half time. Maybe a rethink of that policy would be welcome.

I am in the same situation (C2 season ticket holder). I can't believe the "suite" will only be for use of the small number of CPrem season ticket holders. Maybe C1 and C2 season ticket holders will have the option of paying a higher amount which includes access to the suite; or else a lower amount for those who don't use the "suite" and just get food and drink from the concourse below?

Which then begs the question whether C1/C2 people will have the option of a one-off upgrade to the "suite" for a specific match day?

Re access to the suite I guess it’s for 2 reasons. Firstly an expectation that there may still be some restrictions on people. Secondly there will be a restriction on numbers in there from a safety point of view anyway (fire certificate etc). Removing access for c1* and c2 will probably mean that the club can sell extra hospitality and given the games we’ll have it makes sense. Fair reduction in cost for c2 even if we sell the low end of tickets. An email extra £51 if you want c prem instead.

*no mention of c1 in the info. I’d guess the club are expanding c prem to include c1. Only a guess mind

The club continue to knock things out of the park and really are looking the real deal off the field these days. Fantastic gesture and brilliant prices for League 1 footy, well done everyone involved. We just need the town to get behind us now.

If 1000 buy season tickets, a standing season ticket works out at just over £6.50 per game, for League 1!!
All those ManU and Liverpool twats in the Strawberry and the betting shop on a Saturday spend five times as much and still moan it’s too expensive and the football is shit!
There are always some who would rather sit and sup and moan I’m afraid.
The positives are I have met at least 4 casual fans who were saying they wouldn’t mind a season ticket, so these prices will certainly encourage the floaters to get one, hopefully!

I think they have dropped the potential price down so far that they couldn't make further concessions and having a flat rate price makes admin easier.

Totally agree about the massive fans that sit in pubs watching 'their" team Freez, makes no sense to me at all. I do think with the Super League, VAR and the PL being pretty shitty these days that clubs like Morecambe have a chance to show these people that they have proper footy on their doorstep and these prices will go a long way in doing that.

We're the same. We've had season tickets in C2 for years, mostly for the access to the suite. (Our seats are literally a couple of metres from the D block, so very little in the way of improved view etc). I really do hope there is an option to "upgrade" the basic seat to include access to the suite. Otherwise, the loos/catering for blocks C2, D and E is going to be ridiculously overcrowded.

Can't say fairer than that - amazing offer by the club! Lets hope people of the surrounding area really gets behind the initiative. Imagine being in a position whereby your starting point is 2,000 season ticket holders.... it'll basically mean that the home support will never be outnumbered, hopefully generating a buzz/atmosphere that transmits to the players.

Assuming match day pricing does not increase (it usually does for this type of deal), the Adult season ticket behind the goal is effectively 15 free games.... or £6.52 a game in League One! You only need to go to 8 games to make it worth your while. Hopefully there are some flexible payment options, but I can't see many circumstances where being a season ticket holder is not financially beneficial for all individuals who attend games regularly - but then again I thought this before the potential reductions.

A secondary point, the club is much more attractive commercially if our attendances increase. For example, Martin does a great job selling advertising boards around the ground etc - but realistically how many local business do this to support the club thinking that in reality there is actually little/no commercial benefit? You can make more compelling arguments that its actually a viable business proposition with 4k pair of eyes in the ground IMO.

Feel slightly for those that have come accustomed to watering in the hospitality suite at half time - but ultimately it is a hospitality suite, so if this facility is required for people paying a premium to use it as demand for this service increases then so be it. I think its clear that if you want to use these facilities, you need to either buy a C Prem season ticket, or be in hospitality.... which is reflected in season ticket pricing for this area. Overall this is a massively positive announcement! Hats off to the club for trying something new. We need more fans, and hopefully this draws them to the club more regularly.
Hello! Hello! We are the Morecambe boys!

C2 season tickets were £60 more than D tickets for the ability to use the suite to buy drinks/use the loos etc before the match and at half time. I think that's fair to be honest. It's not as if the C1/C2 people were getting access for no extra cost.

Looking at the announcement, there doesn't seem to be any differential in pricing between the C, D and E blocks which seems strange given that the E block is a much worse view than the D or C.

I know I may be showing my age , but there are still older people who don't use social media. We could do with local businesses advertising this fact in 'shops'. Advertise it far and wide.

I would donate any refund from my season ticket into anything that helps the club, but one set that hasn't been mentioned is life season ticket holders. I Just bought mine for C2 at the beginning of last season.

The club asked for responses to the survey by Friday 18th, so its unlikely that anyone will hear from them before next week. Give them time to collate responses, and they may need to contact anyone on their list who hasn't responded online, you're probably looking at a week from now at the earliest.
