EFL1 on the horizon

EFL1 on the horizon

Postby redrobo » Mon Jul 12, 2021 9:48 am

It's only a matter of weeks before we commence our long awaited life in EFL1 with expectations of what to follow and how we will cope no doubt in the minds of every Shrimps supporter, young and old.

Without doubt it's going to be a tough ride and we will have to accept that in some games we will be up against some very experienced operators.

Our new manager has assembled what looks like on paper a very good squad but the proof of the pudding is in the eating and it's only when we overcome the initial exuberance of being in EFL1 that we will be able to judge how the players cope with the season ahead.

For me as long as we finish the season still in EFL1 then that will have been a tremendous achievement; anything more will have exceeded my expectations.

Whatever the season ahead throws at us the time is now that we all stick together and become the teams 12th man both on and off the field.

Everybody connected with our club is working their butts off to bring success to the club. We have a role to play in ensuring that our club survive to progress even further in the future.

COYS..... :D :D :D

Well put RR. That sums it up for me also and probably the majority of us. Massive task ahead no doubt. I read somewhere that EFL1 is as strong now as it's ever been and the budgets of many of the clubs dwarfs ours.

However it's not always about money as we saw last season. The squad SR is putting together looks promising and lets make no mistake 5th from bottom or above would be a tremendous achievement.

Looking forward to it and glad there's no penalty shoot outs.
In L2 we often prayed that 2 teams would be "worse" than us.

I think we can change that to we must be better than 4 other teams. I like the way the new manager has been positive about everything and appears to have signed some young hungry players that can't wait to get started.

Workington tomorrow and Chorley on Saturday, bring it on!
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think
