Just seen the line up, someone called Mayor on the bench, assume this is another academy player? :)

Results don`t matter - it`s performances and fitness which is the most important thing at this time of year

Big scalp for Chorley though - we used to beat higher league clubs in the past !!

First half was ok made some good chances and went through one on one a couple of times but poor finishing.

I might be wrong but I think it was Arthur from Bolton and the trialist who had the best chances. Wes McDonald seemed ok as well on the left.

Second half there were periods we couldn't get out of our own half.

I just wish he had some friendlies against better opposition to test us before ipswich or it will seem a huge step up.

Didnt realise Paul Mariner started life at Chorley, great day but roasting hot, whens the next train back

1st half good, who was our tricky no.7?

Bit of a let down 2nd half.

We move on, no game Saturday??

Thats sounds better wonder why behind close doors? Are we not loosing money only having one home game.

Cheaper than hosting a game with all the paraphernalia in front of 400 fans

Quality first half, just ballsed our chances. Toums ran it. McDonald was a proper threat, McLoughlin and Wildig picked some great spots in the the attacking third just outside the area - lovely. Trialist (probably Fondop) did some great aerial work but lacked composure.

Second half ended up a bit of a write off. Big change to the team, then brought on a load of children before the players brought on could get acclimatised, Some of the kids looked talented, but ultimately it's tough when you're a 16 year old playing against some grizzly non-league clogger.

Only players missing were Mellor, Leigh and Obika BUT Cooney (not Rooney  ) made a welcome return.

Shame we lost but it's all about fitness and game time at this stage of pre season. The upcoming games behind closed doors will be interesting.

I'd rather we lost and show the areas of concern than win 5-0 and have no worries.

Calling young men children is out of order.

Wasn't there but surely only 2 Academy lads came on or was it more.... :?: :?: :?:

Said with a jokey tone RR, nothing serious meant by it. However you want to argue the semantics though, the fact is that they are just a bit smaller than everybody else and that did make it tricky at times - although the two lads down the left flank put together some nice little moves.

There were three who came on, and at a point where the came was becoming broken up a bit. Also there was no Cooney.

All three looked pretty sound technically - they probably won't feature this season but good to see links being established. Hopefully we can be a bit more productive with our youth set-up over the next few years.

So it WAS Rooney and NOT Cooney. My mistake but young Pye who came on at Workington although small looked excellent and argues well for his future with us or even beyond.....

Hope the introduction of some of the Academy is an on going thing and will make Drummy and Waino feel part of the new set up. Not once did I hear Adams ever refer to the Academy but I accept that he was here to save us from relegation and then promotion....and we thank him for that.

:) :) :)
