I'm surprised he's still not signed for anyone. Wonder if there is something else going on in his life? Or if he over-estimated his value? If he had something lined up, you'd expect it to be sorted by now, so he could start pre-season with a new club? Very odd.

Maybe he overvalued himself I was read somewhere that the reason he had such a good season was more the fact there was a system built round him, prob like Cole for us last season.

I'd agree with that, the system suited the player. That and he banged in about 10 penalties, at least 4 of them incredibly dubious.
