Commentary today

Am I right in thinking we can listen live on Beyond Radio today ?

I'm a bit confused that we seem to have the choice of paying for iFollow to listen or listening for free on 103.5 & 107.5 FM. If we can listen for free won't the club lose income from reduced iFollow subscriptions?

"Supporters will be able to listen to exclusive, full and uninterrupted radio commentary of every single game, home and away, which will be broadcast simultaneously across North Lancashire on 103.5 and 107.5FM, as well as on the iFollow Shrimps platform, beginning with the trip to Ipswich Town on Saturday 7 August."

That's how I read it too.

Assuming this means that as an international I will still get a video stream on iFollow with the same audio stream as the radio.

I suppose so but will make more from ticket sales than last year. I'm continuing with iFollow because I wouldn't know how to get those frequencies in Bristol but also when I'm abroad like today I can watch (I think/hope)

I'd also assume Beyond are paying Morecambe for the commentary rights? Chances are it wasn't a huge amount from iFollow audio subscriptions anyway, they might be getting more this way

It’s a reciprocal deal with club and Beyond both getting increased publicity.
So it could backfire, losing IFollow subscribers, but time will tell.

Beyond pay the EFL for the right to broadcast obviously.

Everybody is pretty much spot on.

The commercial partnership deal between Beyond and the club is worth a significant sum. It’s not my place to say just how much but believe me, a great deal for the club and well worth the potential loss of local iFollowers who can now listen on FM for free.

Beyond have also paid, again, a significant sum for broadcast rights to the footballing overlords, in addition to the costs of actually doing the commentaries and everything that goes with it.

Thanks Dave, a win win deal then.

A different style of commentary than we're used to but I found it easy to follow and enjoyed it. It'll be even better when I recognise the current Shrimps players names.

Who is Bankrolling Beyond Radio? I thought it was just a community project ran from an old pavillion in the park off Palentine Rd

Thanks for the commentary Dave and also the input of Matt Smith. No offence to the [i]Shrimpartial Twins - [i] David Freear and Glen Cooper; who I know are very popular with not just Shrimps fans - but I thought it made a really refreshing change. Keep up the good work. I look forward to listening to you both again.

Nobody - it's just a successful station that has grown significantly over the last couple of years. This is the next step in its growth. No rich backers.

It's good to see, hopefully fill the void The Bay left.
