SR on Radio Lancashire tonight '2 signings imminent'

Postby redrobo » Mon Aug 09, 2021 6:03 pm

Sounds as though we can expect 2 new signings in the next few hours. One defender and the other a forward.

The signing of a defender could have implications for Sam's future as it looks like SR prefers his own men...but time will tell.

No names ....but wonder if Mike Fondop could be one.. :?: :?: :?:

Scott Wootton is one, CB who played for Wigan on loan from Plymouth last season.

Seems like Sam is on the way out to Wycombe as well

Journalist Alan Nixon who has been correct before reckons that it's a deal worth £180K if it goes through.

Personally SR has done some excellent work but on this one he's got it wrong AND if Sam is to go surely not to another EFL1 club...he's better than that....and £180K is peanuts in today's market irrespective of Sam's contract end in June 2022

:x :x :x

Message to Sam.....turn this move down and wait for a Championship club to come calling

Think it's generally accepted now that Sam isn't signing an extended contract and would be on his way at the end of this season on a free. I guess we have to cash in whilst we can. We can also add sell on clauses etc' which we couldn't if he left on a free. Folk tend to compare us to Wycombe like for like, but I feel they have gone to the next level after a season in the Championship and signing players such as Sam Vokes. Also a well respected football site recently had them as winning league 1 this season in their preview.

Wooton sounds OK as a replacement and I think we have to trust in Steve Robinson to do what's best for the club. In Robbo we trust.

What on earth are you on about? Since when did first team managers decide transfer fees and who a player signs for? We know Sam was offered a new contract and hadn’t signed it. Therefore if we we are to assume what might have happened here then it must be Sam who wants to go. Given this and the fact he’s in the last year of his contract it’s sensible to let him go and take the money on offer. I don’t want to see him go any more than anyone else but if he wants to then we say thanks, good luck and move on (whilst keeping a fond eye on his progress).

I would have hoped that Sam would have had more ambition than to go to another EFL1 club.

Do we really need that money that badly to allow one of our prized assets to go so cheaply..... :?: :?: :?:

We are told that there are a number of clubs after him so why take the first ( :?: ) offer that comes along.

I've no problem with any player wanting to move to better himself but to a club in the same division....especially one that over the seasons has been in EFL2 and non league like ourselves. :?:

Disappointed if it happens to say the least....

It would be easy if you knew the facts, but most of that is just speculation, maybe his agent still thinks they are in the Championship

..and that is the problem. NOBODY (and that includes myself) other than the BoDs. Manager and Sam himself know the facts and that includes those who say that he has refused a new contract.

Where is the evidence :?: :?: :?:

Where is the confirmation that Sam wants to leave at this moment in time :?: :?: :?:

No criticism of anybody at the club intended but those who claim to know what is going on either have insider information (which I doubt) or are being purely speculative.

At the recent Q&A evening it was confirmed that a new contract had been offered but had not been signed by Sam. The full evenings video is on YouTube if you care to watch it.

Just because he hasn't signed doesn't mean he has totally rejected it. Keeping his options open is more than likely.

My point is that Sam isn't bettering himself in terms of football. It's a sideways move at best and his progression to the Championship if he moves will be delayed for at least another season.

We can disagree until the cows come home but that is how I see it....sorry if that doesn't fit well with others.

I think it would be reasonable to assume that Lavelle wanting to weigh up his options a bit first would be a reason for him holding off on signing.

Got to say I am massively surprised that it appears to be Wycombe who he's likely to go to. I can't imagine they'd be offering him a great deal more than us money-wise if anything, and it'd be a long way to move for not much more money to a club in the same league. Not even one of the big boys of this division either.

Also a bit baffled by the rumours that we're not holding out for lots and lots of cash. I would have thought that with the Delaney injury, it'd be worth taking the gamble on him signing the contract at some point this season rather than flogging him now a bit more quickly at a lower value. While we do want to get money for Lavelle, we do also need to have a strong set of defenders this season.

It seems as though there is a speed bump with our Lavelle signing. My source has disclosed that his Agent is playing hardball in the negotiations

Taken from their forum.

Isn't his father our former player Ben his agent.... :?: :?: :?:

SR said he needed cover for a Left sided CB and Sam is very much right footed. O'Conner seems to be nailed on for that spot which means Sam is behind him in the pecking order. If we don't sell Sam now he will depreciate in value and could move over the border for free after Dec 31st. Clubs know his contract situation and they won't over inflate his price when they can pick him up for nowt in 12month. I do agree with the why Wycombe vibe though despite their fans thinking they are Massive.
