Wycombe signed Sam Vokes at start of season so they have got plenty of money

Think it's about time we start to talk with more of a 'he's staying' kind of attitude.

He was outstanding yesterday and tbh, should have even scored. Doesn't look like a player going anywhere. Very rare someone on the edge of a move plays so continuously for his current club.

Looking at some L1 forums, Wycombe are looking 'elsewhere' and have an eye on an young lad in L1. No names mentioned.

The whole thing smells of agents to be honest. I am pretty sure if it was just down to Sam and his Dad, Sam would have signed a new deal at the club. His agent will be touting him around and promising Sam riches he couldn't get here but nothing has transpired as yet. A move to Wycombe will not be lucrative and the increase in cost of living will probably not match the increase in wages. Deadline day is approaching and the club will be worried that they will lose an asset for nothing next summer if the deal goes unsigned or if nobody comes in for the lad. His conduct is top notch, wouldn't expect anything less from a Lavelle.

I think you're probably right there BW with it being agents stirring all this up.

If the Lavelle interest was at the start of the summer, then I would probably be leaning towards cashing in to avoid losing out next summer. But with it being so late in the day with little time to get a replacement in, however, I'd rather take our chances on persuading him to sign the new deal.

Could be wrong but I thought that Ben was Sam's agent and advisor..... :?: :?: :?:

Talking to a member of Sam's family the other night we (there was at least two others involved in the conversation) got the impression that Sam doesn't want to go to Wycombe having recently set up home in the Blackpool area.

I agree with most of the post, in particular about the parasites who tout players around, looking for where they will get the biggest percentage rather than what is best for the player (look at how Amond never settled anywhere due to his agent constantly moving him).

However, I think you are under-estimating Wycombe. They have a huge parachute payment (£5 million?) and a billionaire backer. I think they could offer a player like Sam double what we could, if they chose to.

Would he be better off staying here, signing a new contract, playing week in, week out, and being happy, within commuting distance of home? It may further his career more in the long term, as he proves his worth & ability, especially, as Robinson has a great track record for developing talent. Far better than potentially being a bench warmer somewhere else?

Come on Sam, sign that contract, then get on with the football!

So how did that work out then?
