Interestingly SR has said that Cole needs support and the one time he had it was in the last 45 at Blackburn and what a difference it made.

Only my thoughts but doubt some would agree.

Would be interested in your thinking how Cole gets the support SR has said he needs.

Gnahoua cant understand why he's first choice or gets substituted and getting the nod over McDonald and McPake and others

its like SR subbed McPake for overplaying the ball yesterday but so was Gnahoua on the other side.

Can't find the link but there is a YouTube of new boy Duffus playing for Bromley and on a couple of occasions he comes in from a centre right position and scores a couple of well worked goals. Maybe he could play the same role in support of Cole for ourselves. He should be given a chance v PNE to show what he can do.

:?: :?: :?:

We were having these discussions this time last season when many on here were saying that Cole wasn't up to the job and want McAlinden starting in his place.

I agree Arthur isn't looking the real deal at the minute but it will come. His shot yesterday looked decent and if he gets a few more of those i am sure he will come good. You can't develop players if you keep dropping them. Lobbing another man up top and changing the system isn't the answer and SR says he will continue as we are. Trust the process and the coaching.

Gnahoua presses pretty well and in a smart fashion. He's also had the most second most key passes per 90, only behind Phillips. He's got an assist as well, although it was him chesting the ball to Stockton before his solo goal vs Ipswich.

I think we're yet to see any really big moments of individual quality but he's shown some occasional bits of good skill to beat a man. Nothing really in a telling area yet though. However, he's got in behind well down the line and done some decent stretching of the opposition defence.

He's yet to provide any moments of real quality to make a big difference, but he's acquitting himself on the pitch well and I feel is probably carrying out the tasks that SR demands of him.

My assumption was that McPake was hooked at HT due to a knock as it sounded like he was playing well. He's been the most impressive of the wingers so far for me. I'd say McDonald has disappointed a little so far, while Gnahoua has been ok.

but i noticed McDonald who came in for McPake at first opportunity was crossing the ball into the box for Stockton like instructed, being more direct and not overplaying it.

only a matter of time before they all gel

McPake has been very impressive this season, aside from him losing the ball for the Rotherham goal he’s not really put a foot wrong considering he’s only 19. Agree about Wes, he’s yet to prove he’s better than Josh or Arthur.

Will be nice to see Wildig, Delaney, Gibbo back to add even more competition for places, and I’m sure the team will gel together nicely within the next few weeks & months. We’ve got to remember we’re playing a new style with over two-thirds of our squad being different from last season - even the players who stayed from last season need time to adjust (apart from Cole seemingly!!). If we can calm down a bit in possession and find the right balls when we get in the final third, we have the potential to do VERY well with this style.

And just a final comment for a certain SVer,
WE ARE 16 DAYS INTO THE SEASON! THERE IS NO NEED TO PANIC!!

McPake looks like our best winger so far and is the one winger we have who is definitely League 1 standard.

Jury still out on Arthur - for me, he’s not done much right or wrong yet.

Wes looks very tricky but very little end product. Walsall fans said that he ‘flatters to deceive’ with all his tricks but doesn’t actually offer much - let’s hope they’re wrong.

Have to agree with this, he looks great with his steopvers then doesn't really get anywhere, would be great if he could go the extra yard and beat the man, seems to get over excited when he gets in a shooting position.
Early days, but with games coming thick and fast, we do need some more points on the board.
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think
