O/T Kabul Airport

O/T Kabul Airport

Postby redrobo » Sun Aug 22, 2021 6:06 pm

I've always thought that in the main we are a caring country where life is precious irrespective of creed or colour.

But BBC News TV images tonight have really got to me especially the one where a brother and sister of no more than possibly six year old have been adandoned not only by their parents which is terrible on its own but to be rejected by a country who have issued UK passports to their parents is a blight on our so called caring reputation.

Both the UK and US Governments should take a good look at their actions and realise that the families they have deserted deserve much better especially those who have helped the coalition in the past 20 or so years.

There is sod all I can do about it other than to express my total disgust at the way we are treating these people and especially the children who have done nothing wrong.

Sad very sad.

Sorry about this rant but I feel bloody terrible about what is happening in Kabul especially when there is sod all we can do about it.

August 31st is the deadline when USA pull out, I just hope we the UK have the capability to hold the Airport and save more.

I don't think Biden or anyone else for that matter expected the Afghan security forces to capitulate in the way they did.....$Billions upon $Billions spent and squandered, corruption was rife throughout, thousands of lives lost. The World has become insecure almost overnight. What a mess!

In my view, instead of arming the Moujahadin against the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, we should have helped the USSR to defeat them. Radical Islam is a threat to us all. We should have asked ourselves before supporting the Americans: if the world's second Superpower can't beat them in their own backyard, what chance do we have? Seeing what is happening in Kabul makes me angry as well as sad - do we never learn? God help those poor people. God help the 18-year-olds we have sent to stand on the front line to deal with them - as our alleged Foreign Secretary lounges on a deck chair miles from home and twiddles his thumbs. Just think of the lives lost and ruined - ours and others - in this latest wildly expensive disaster. What was it all for? It's wrong: and it was totally avoidable in the first place...

well i was expecting it, maybe not weeks but certainly months along with many others, based on History, the Russians failed and you can go back as far as Alexandra the Great.

Soooo, this will be full circle again. Let's be honest USA and the UK won't be 'out' by the 31st - well we certainly won't be. The Taliban will retaliate (more than likely with a stint of mass murder of their own to start) we will take offence again to another inhumane act and send more troops in to rebel the actions. We'll experience another significant terror attack in Europe and we will be back to square 1 and it'll be different this time. Not one to say 'why do we always get involved' as I'm proud in a way we do and can BUT sometimes you have to say to your mate you can't carry on forever. A favour soon becomes outdated.

For me we are going to have some massive problems on the next few weeks and we should be doing a lot more to evacuate innocent people, children and women first. To hell with human rights and all that bull the old fashioned way works. The men deserve to leave too but not in place of their wives or children.

Boris and Biden ... Better than Trump and Corbyn I guess!

A US military analyst was interviewed on 'Ch4 News' weeks ago and predicted exactly this. He said that without helicopter & drone support, the Afghan army had no chance of repelling the Taliban. A small force of US military, keeping the air support in place, would have been enough.

The people at the top knew. Or, they are so incompetent, they should have known, in which case, they should go. Biden is a disgrace. Two Presidential elections on the trot, the US failed to find a couple of decent candidates. 350 million people, and the best they can come up with is Clinton, Biden & Trump? Meanwhile, in Britain, the crop of our leadership was Johnson & Corbyn?
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?
