If we appeal the red card from yesterday does that mean Shane can play on Tuesday ???

I am sure the sending off will be overturned on appeal. Really poor decision where it looked like the referee was influenced by an assistant who was truly awful throughout the game.

Maybe better NOT to appeal as the next game is at home and rather have him unable to play a home game than a difficult away game.

Certainly looked a clumsy tackle that warranted a Yellow but NOT a red but history tells us that htey hardly ever side with the player at any appeal.

Not sure but if we appeal can the EFL extend his ban to say 2 or even 3 games?

It's a three game ban for a straight red unless it's for a last man challenge.

Probably worth appealing given some of the red cards we saw overturned last season - take the Marcus Maddison one against us for example. It was an overly heavy challenge and probably warranted a booking and a talking to, but it wasn't particularly high or anything. It shocked me that it was overturned though as there was probably enough in the challenge to back the ref up.

With this one, it was scruffy and you can see two feet going in from certain angles, but it really wasn't a particularly hard challenge at all. I wouldn't have bothered appealing but as above, having seen some of the ones that get overturned we might as well.

I will be shocked if the club doesn’t appeal. Sending off was harsh. The two players got in a tangle but watching the incident several times I don’t think anyone was to blame. No way did it warrant a red card.

Not sure I agree. There was a moment of having both feet off the floor directly before the foul and the foot appears to go through the back of their lad's leg. It may not be the clearest cut red card, but given that the FA generally support referees, they are likely to uphold a decision, even if it was 'harsh'.

Unless the ref has watched it himself and believes he made an error, then I doubt if an appeal would be won.

The decisions are certainly going against us again. The Doncaster Rovers non-penalty was the worst decision I've seen in a long time. Not even Donnie fans attempted to justify it and most said it was a red card, in fact, they even convinced me it was! The law changed, so it isn't a penalty & sending off for a foul that stops a clear goal scoring opportunity, plus, it was a narrow angle, with a defender on the line. But one of their fans commented that this new interpretation only counts when there is a 'genuine attempt to play the ball'. A rugby tackle clearly isn't a genuine attempt to play the ball, therefore, red card.

So how did that work out then?

SR confirmed that they appealed and it was denied.

I have watched the incident again and still feel the sending off was ridiculous. Interesting that the two ex-pros on Quest thought it was never a sending off.
