O'Connor

Still one of the funniest threads on Shrimpsvoices.

O’Connor is a class act. Solid defender, marshalls the back line well and he does have a go at players if they need a word. Yes he had a go at Sam Lavelle against Preston and that’s because he was partly at fault for both goals.

He also carries the ball out brilliantly, is calm on the ball, has good vision and passes the ball well.

Great to have him as captain.

I still wonder if Robbo saw something in Lavelle that he didnt like and that's why he started with O'connor and Delaney in pre season and must have agreed the transfer and thought he was replaceable and it turns out he might be correct.

Technically Sam is a very very good defender but probably 2 or 3 inches too small and a couple of stone too light. Obviously that isn't his fault but Robbo has replaced him with 2 seriously big defenders and we are better for it. When Ayunga came on last night, I looked around the pitch and we were a really big and imposing team.

Example number 3957292048382937271947382737 that Red Robbo/CC gets quite a lot wrong. O’Connor rightly motm last night and he’s been good most of the season. slightly odd to criticise him for criticising others when they make an error. Oh and after the game last night he made a kids night by giving him his captain’s armband.

Also a mention for another who RR has liked to criticise, Wes. Had a good game last night and worked very hard pressing and chasing back when we lost the ball.

I think Red Robbo/CC gets a lot of bad press which he doesn't deserve.

In his defence.

1/ He is definitely ITK. He changed his username from CC to Red Robbo (presumably as a salute to our new manager), when none of us had even heard of Stephen Robinson. How did he know?? :o

2/ He keeps the forum lively with his somewhat controversial views. It would be a more boring place without him.

3/ He still posts on the Accy forum under the name CC. He certainly knows how to wind them up and gets even more stick than he gets on here. :?

Still stand by everything I posted AT THE TIME....BUT I have to admit that since then he has improved as a player and alongside Wootton have formed a good defensive partnership. Still has moments when he lacks leadership for me but those are few and last night was immense as I said to a number around me.

He did worry me when he started to make those forward runs but in hindsight maybe when he did stop before going forward that was to draw a couple of the opposition to him allowing him and his colleagues more room in which to operate.

If I get things wrong (which I do from time to time :o ) then I've no problem in admitting it. :D :D :D

So good to see us above Accy in the table. :D :D :D

Quite right. Would be very dull without him. My main gripe is anyone criticising our players without any real basis. By all means call out errors but the players need our support

I think Stephen signed Wooton because he knew Sam was going to be leaving.

Wooton has played quite a decent amount of games at a higher level than League 1 so IMHO I think he was a brilliant signing by our manager.

Sam looked a class act at League 2 but had not proven himself at League 1 level and from the look of Charlton's results things are not running smoothly for their defence.
