Vaccine Uptake

The Rochdale doctor criticised their squad as apparently less than 20% are vaccinated. Lots of news articles about Premier League players and England players refusing the vaccine as well.

Anyone know how Morecambe are doing in that regard? I remember a preseason video, Farny mentioned they were going to vaccinate the players but it sounded like most were already vaccinated.

Surely a persons medical history is their own business and every player has the right to decide what is best for their own individual body?

I think as soon as you work for a private company/entity that group is allowed to make a decision for the people they employ.

I'm absolutely, 100% behind science and got my vaccinations as soon as I could, but I totally disagree, individuals have the right to choose. If they don't believe in science, then it is up to them. In the USA, employers have 'rights' over their employees because they pay the employees medical insurance. As a result, the employer can deny the female employees access to birth control if they oppose it on medical grounds. Where would it stop? The employer tells you, you have to be tee-total? Or, vegetarian? Or... whatever.

I think it is reasonable for the employer to know if an employee has decided not to get vaccinated, so that they can Risk Assess the person, which reduces risk elsewhere. For example, if someone chooses not to be vaccinated, the employer should be able to require a COVID test daily, before they start work, as that reduces risk to others, but demanding that they have vaccinations is too far, in my opinion.

So how did that work out then?

Had to see my doctor about my arthritic knee the other day to arrange an MRI scan and we got talking about the Covid injection and his take was that all health workers should be mandated to have the jab irrespective of their beliefs. I feel that the same should be for sportsman who could quite easily spread the virus (if affected) to their colleagues who in turn could spread it through their family and friends etc etc etc.

But the Covid jabs don't prevent transmission of Covid, they just stop you from getting poorly from it. What is the health risk for a healthy 18-30 year old athlete from Covid?

??????? Sorry Neil, but why single sportsMEN out? Firstly what about SPORTSWOMEN? Secondly, why single out sportspeople? Surely it's more important to keep the lights on, so power station workers, and we need access to food and water to survive, so there's ALL shopworkers and water company employees. We need to get to work so there's public transport and road maintenance. All are surely far more important than bloody footballers! I'm actually with Keith. I think everyone should get vaccinated, but I'm not happy with mandating it, but I would impose daily checks on the unvaccinated depending on the circumstances.
