McPake UPDATE 15 December

Postby redrobo » Mon Dec 13, 2021 5:23 pm

Still no word of him..is he still injured or simply doesn't impress the manager in training.... :?: :?: :?: :?:

If it's a case of not impressing the manager then let him go back to Rangers BUT he was outstanding for Harrogate last season and quite a few where excited when we signed him on a season loan.

Mystery... :?: :?: :?:

you could be right, seen him running about laughing a joking with people during home games when he’s suppose to be injured.

could do with his skill making a nuisance of himself against the opposition.

Evidently has a recall agreement in his contract. So I would expect him to return to Rangers in January.

If he returns then wish him well but for me he hasn't had enough game time for whatever reason.

As expected Rangers are set to recall him in January.

A number of other clubs are interested in taking him on a further loan on his return to Scotland.

For whatever reason it hasn't worked out for him at the Mazuma but he certainly should in my opinion have been given further game time.

yes I agree he can be no worse than what our current wide men offer.

I liked the look of him when he did feature - he seemed lively and not afraid to run with the ball. I assumed that he’d be right back in contention for us once fit so it’s disappointing to hear that he might not be staying with us. I’d go as far as saying that out of all our wingers, he looked the most promising to me.

Not to bothered about him going back, he’s hardly featured for us so not a lot to miss and I would imagine he’s one of the top earners even if we are not paying all his wages as happens in some deals, it’ll probs free a large slice of money to use on getting better players in

So did I. Can't remember which game it was, but maybe the last he featured in. He came on as a sub and made a massive impact. Kept drawing fouls and free kicks which allowed us a bit of time to recompose ourselves as if I remember rightly, we were struggling a bit to keep organised due to the fast pace of the game.

Think it might have been Accy at home, but could be wrong. He was a decent player for Harrogate last term, pity he hasn’t done much here because of injury. But beware that it’s paper talk and could be complete bollocks to fill a column also!

I believe McPake was one of our highest earners so letting him return to Rangers would free up funds to enable us to make a new signing or two in the transfer window.

Yes, nobody else near his £4100 per week, which I presume Rangers covered most of

Seems to recall a post suggesting that the loan goalkeeper from Newcastle was earning something similar.

I doubt we would be covering most of their wages during their loan spell....if we had been then money saved will go hopefully towards a midfield enforcer with EFL experience...not someone North of the Border with no awareness of English league football.

I know he’s highly rated at gers but, he’s never really set anywhere alight on his loans
Rated a Harrogate but L2
Never did much for us even though he had injuries L1
Rumours of joining Tranmere L2
So perhaps he’s not as brilliant as the hype suggests or maybe attitude problems?
At least it will free up some more money for our head of recruitment to ply his trade :D

for me the standard of the SPL is the same as L1, even Celtic & Rangers would struggle in the Championship.

so you could say L2 is Josh McPake’s standard at the moment.

Off to Tranmere in the next 48 hours. Micky Mellon flexing his Scottish links.

Confirmation his loan has been ended.

https://www.morecambefc.com/news/2022/j ... o-rangers/

Didn't see too much of him personally but didn't think he was dreadful. Not sure how much of his wages we were paying but perhaps it was in our best interest to free up some funds to bring in someone new.
