Team for Doncaster

Team for Doncaster

Postby Redalert1970 » Fri Dec 31, 2021 7:04 am

This is only my opinion ....(If players are available)

Letheren

Mcloughlin O Connor Delaney Leigh

Toums

Wildig Mcalmont Mcloughlin

Stockton Obika

Personally i think bringing Toums back in to the line up could bring that experience and also a settling influence between the defence and midfield

Let’s hope any new faces are better quality than most of the signings the manager made last summer. If not in the words of Dad’s Army “We’re doomed”!

Agree about starting Toums. Hopefully one of these new faces is a centre back so Delaney doesn't have to play.

Letheren
McLaughlin-AOC-Delaney-Leigh
Phillips-Toums-McLoughlin
Gnahoua-Stockton-Ayunga

If Phillips is injured, then Wildig in for him. A new centre back would be nice, but we'll have to wait and see.

McLoughlin on the same side of the pitch as Ayunga please. Ayunga worked harder than he has done previously against Crewe and can hopefully carry that into the next game, but it's worth having the safety blanket of McLoughlin on that side of the pitch with him.

If Toums isn’t selected to start against Donny then it says more about the manager than the player. In vital games you have to play your most experienced player with a good football brain- that’s definitely Toums. I struggle to understand why SR doesn’t seem to get that!

Before everyone jumps down the managers throat - Maybe Toums as been carrying a slight knock

Robbo see`s the players in training every day - WE DON`T

Based on Neil’s link in the Donny press on another thread, even if we sign new players tomorrow they won’t be able to play on Sunday.

Based on availability, as we are playing fellow strugglers at home and we only have 2 CB fit (1 of which never plays) I’d like to see us with a more bodies and people comfortable on the ball in the middle. Let’s keep people away from our leaky defence.

Letheren (just) - though the goalkeeping position needs to be a priority in Jan

McLaughlin (if Cooney unwell), AOC, Gibbo, Leigh

Toums, McAlmont

Arthur, McLoughlin, Wildig

Stockton

Big emphasis on Arthur and Aaron pushing forward, in addition to Leigh and Ryan getting down the flanks when they can.

We’re in a bit of a bind with Jon Obika atm - fitness not there and he struggles to make any impact. Looks a powerful player… but its almost scripted that he comes off after an hour. We can’t can’t just give him minutes for the sake of it. Perhaps have him come on towards the end, he may fair better against tiring opponents.

Andresson
Cooney O'Conner RyanMc Gibson
McCalmont Toums Leigh
Phillips Stockton Arthur

New and experienced players required and hopefully onboard asap

Centre Back
Tough/foot on the ball Midfielder
Winger who can cross the ball
If Stockton goes we are scuppered without a very good replacement

Cooney very unlikely, he's been in hospital this week with severe tonsillitis. 'Light training' yesterday apparently.

Robbo mentioned in interview about needing Toums back, so he must be certain to play.

His comments make me think he wasn't fully fit even if he seemed it. Although we have many centre mids to fit in, Tours is one of the best players and must start.

It has to be back to basics and no more square pegs in round holes. A back four is a must with Toums and Shane in the middle. I think i would go with Wildig over Alfie just because we need that forward running midfielder. Callum was so poor against Crewe. Besides Cole, i don't have much faith in the other attackers. Arthur is probably the best of a bad bunch though so i would go for him and one other.
