Cole Stockton

Just been reading the FOOTBALL INSIDER and apparently Oxford, Rotherham, Preston and Barnsley are all chasing King Cole

Hopefully we can stave off any club and keep him till at least the summer !!!

Don`t know how reliable this website is but let`s see what happens over the next 8 days

It's inevitable that the club will receive interest in our goal machine during this current transfer window that hasn't much longer to run.

I hope that our excellent BoD have already made moves to insure that Cole is still with us until the end of the season by some financial inducement, after all without his goals between now and May the chances of relegation are considerate which in the long term will cost the club money. So maybe a wee bit if investment in him now will provide our lads with the necessary fire power to improve our chances of EFL1 survival.

Maybe some kind of guarantee that should he wish to explore other playing options elsewhere in summer could be sufficient for Cole to remain with us for the short term. His market value may not be that less in summer than it is now so maybe the promise of a move in the summer will be enough for Cole to stay with us for now..... :?: :?: :?:

I know that all the fans would wish him well come the summer.

However if an offer of circa £1million is on the table this transfer window and the club decide to cash in then let's hope that it's not a last minute deal which prevents us from seeking a suitable replacement before the close of this current window.....

I would think that Robbo and our scout will be all over this and should the worst happen, the same equivalent funds would be there for one of the new additions to be a standby of Cole's quality.

I suppose the perfect result ( :?: ) for all parties is that the buying club pay £1million in the summer including a down payment of £250,000 and then agree to loan Cole back to us for the rest of the season.

It has happened at other clubs so no reason that it couldn't happen at our club.

However being purely selfish about it I like the majority hope that we can keep Cole by giving him a financial inducement to stay. Obviously any finance package agreed with Cole will not match that of say PNE but maybe Cole is more concerned about playing football week in and week out.... :?: :?: :?:

Who else breathed a heavy sigh of relief when February arrived!

We've still got a Cole-fire to keep us warm this winter!

Did any offers even come in the end? I think we gave off the impression that we wouldn't consider anything but silly money so no team really bothered even attempting.

Think I read on Twitter or maybe Facebook that Robbo mentioned that we were working on a new deal for Cole too. Was pretty resigned to losing him in the summer but it would be interesting if we stayed up if he would commit himself to the club for a longer period? Ultimately a longer contract might just be a tactic to secure his value to the club and ensure a decent transfer fee is paid.

Well I got that one wrong thankfully but it was interesting to hear comments on the wireless about the asking fee. It sounds as though the reported asking fee of £500K put clubs off given his age and the doubt in some clubs thinking that he could NOT become for them a saleable asset as clubs now tend to look for a younger talent so that the player has a saleable value.

It may simply be that Cole is enjoying being with us and doesn't want to go anywhere?

I am coming around to believing that to be fair. Not that I'm doubting his loyalty but I've always just been of the assumption that if any player gets an offer from a bigger team then they would probably go. There could be a case to say after many years he has finally settled here at Morecambe and doesn't want to give that up.

Cole's conduct has been fantastic throughout all the speculation and every credit to him for that. His performance level never dropped during the window.
