Robbo’s Football was way to open, playing 4-3-3 was Barmy.

give me a well organised Derek Adams team who know how to play off the ball and counter attack anyday.

Totally agree. He tried to play Champagne football with footballers not up to it. It was pretty at times but far too easy to play against. You can't play away as you do at home, he couldn't change it up. He switched to a back 3 but Blackburn apart, with no real success. Talked the talk and sold us a dream but the more you look in to it, he might have been a dud.

The wingers weren't good enough for 433, I miss Phillips/wildig bombing into the area and scoring.

And if we go down I don't think his style would suit League 2.

Derek could have jumped when Bratfud first came in for him but he stayed and saw the job through. We all knew he was going but he showed more commitment to the club than SR has done, by a long way. Derek delivered where Robinson has jumped a struggling ship the first chance he got. Remember Hearts coming in for Derek?

Agree with all this. Derek is an interesting character but I think he was actually a pretty honest guy. He ultimately left for more money and to a bigger club. Both him and Robbo saw the club as a stepping stone but whilst Robbo has got the team playing some nice football he hasn't achieved anything. I'd be more than happy to get Derek back for a relegation scrap with a view to extend a short term contract if he does the business again.

No doubt he try to pinch Cole and possibly Greg in the summer

Cole can do better than St Mirren isn't that where Obika came from and he is a different level apart to Obika.

Markyno1, managers salaries in League 1 are a good chunk above that even for the “smaller” clubs like ourselves, I think that Sammy Mc may have reached the figure you mention in the season we got to the play offs!

That is my immediate concern. Come and take our best talent, possibly young players who've not even got near the first team yet, and because they'd go to Scotland, we'd not get compensation. We could get well and truly shafted.

According to the Daily Record, Diarmuid O'Carroll is joining Robinson. Who will be in charge for tonight's game?

Baz has a 100% record in management, let's hope he can repeat that!

In a report I've read, the average L1 salary is £180K, but the smaller clubs, ie us, are on similar to L2 which is £80K hence my presumption

In some ways it's probably best he goes north of the border. I can't see the SPL being a big draw to our players and Cole will probably leave in the summer but will want a Championship club.

Financially, I don't think things have ever been sweeter at MFC, so I really hope the club doesn't just take the cheap option here. Warnock might just enjoy one last swan song at the seaside but otherwise I'd get Adams back. Both offered short term contracts with a bonus to keep us up and a clause for an extension.

Apart from the timing of his departure when we are in a relegation struggle we shouldn't shed too many tears at the loss of the manager. We are in a relegation battle because of the tactics he employed and because of some of the sub-standard signings he made. Several of the players he brought into the club are nowhere near the standard required in League 1. In my opinion, Stephen Robinson wasn't good enough to manage at this level and our league position reflects that. He is good at the talk but at this level didn't seem able to change anything on the pitch or develop the players. It will be interesting to see how he does at St Mirren and it will be possibly a reflection of the differing standards between the English League 1 and the Scottish Premiership.

Appears that Robinson foresees a relegation looming and has jumped ship at the earliest opportunity before it happens - if that’s his level of commitment we’re probably better off with someone else.

I hope we use some of the compensation to tie Greg Leigh up with a longer contract. I can imagine Robinson's first phone call...

"Greg, I know how much you are getting paid at the moment. Make sure you don't get injured between now and the end of the season and I'll have you playing with me again next season, on more money..."

...and therefore most at risk of going

I'd actually be happy to give the manager job to Baz for the rest of the season, possibly with John McMahon (depending upon how things were when he left) as assistant. Before Berlin Wailer leaps all over this as some kind of 'anti-Adams' post, my rationale is entirely based upon any new manager will need to keep us up using the players we already have, with no option to bring in his own men. It may take a few games to get to know them, whereas Barry already knows them all and they know him. Psychologically, some continuity may be just what we need with games fast running out. John also knows the players, so could slot back in, although, as I say, that depends upon what happened behind him leaving.

Tonight will be interesting. Let's hope we see a positive response from the players.
