I see our former manager is working his magic at St Mirren already!!! In his post match interview after another defeat he criticised his players and said they were not good enough and they are in a relegation fight. He obviously thrives on blaming others for his own weaknesses and many of his interviews are word for word repeats of interviews he gave at the Mazuma. I think we were well shut of him when he left. What he seems incapable of doing is rectifying the mistakes he identifies in contrast to DA who works magic with our squad and is our best hope for League 1 survival.

That’s 6 losses in 7 games for him! It’s all becoming very clear isn’t it, when the going’s poor he’ll say “WE’ve got to take responsibility”, even if it’s a clear tactical foul-up by himself. By all accounts St Mirren had struggled with a back three but thrived in a back four. First thing that man does is revert to a back three. No tactical acumen whatsoever.

Before he arrived the Buddies were pushing for Europe, now they are battling relegation and are out of the cup. The man is a complete bullshitter - we are well shut. Derek has achieved far more than Stephen ever will in management, both sides of the border.

The sad thing is, if Robbo was still here we would be cheering his name and willing him to do well - even if we were winless in two months. We'd still probably have kept him even if he took us down, and backed him to take us up after he'd appointed more of his mates to the backroom set-up. We are so naïve - even more so than Robbos easy on the eye, but ultimately pampers at the back 'tactics'.

I fully expect this snake oil salesman to be popping up at an Arnold Clark dealership near you before too long.

Spot on, he sold us a dream that was never going to work. We all thought he could turn the new lads in to world beaters but in reality, he couldn't. He played the same open football away from home and we were picked off. He had no plan B at all, just reverted to a back 3. Overcomplicated the game.

As a someone who watches quite a lot of Scottish football I think Stephen is stuck in what I can only describe as the Scottish way. If you disregard Celtic and Rangers all the other 10 clubs are capable of beating each other , and likewise of finishing anywhere from 3rd to 12th. This is evidenced by the fact that out of the current 10 clubs only Aberdeen haven’t been relegated or promoted in the last 6 seasons! It leads to a mentality that they play open football, looking to win all the time, and disregarding any safety first or defensive principals as the game progresses. The numerous errors, lack of discipline in organisation makes it an entertaining spectacle, however the product is of a much lower quality, technically, organisationally and in fitness levels, than English football. When you look at the numbers of National league and regional National League players who are playing in the Scottish Premier League I think you can set the standard level for yourself. I would think Dundee are almost certain to get relegated, but the 2nd bottom club play the Championship play off winners over two legs, so I think it will be a tall order for St Mirren to get relegated - but hey, you never know!!

and the problem he had when recruiting for us was I think he took the Scottish Prem standard as league 1 standard when it isn't.

So if he saw a player and thought they would be ok in Scotland then he presumed they would be ok in league 1 when in actual fact they could be league 2/conference standard.

This is Motherwell's 37th consecutive season in the top flight. They haven't been relegated since the early 80s (although they were involved in the play-off where they beat Rangers 6-1 on aggregate).

St Johnstone are in their 9th consecutive season in the top flight. Although they're having a tough time of it this time round.

Hi, sorry for getting things wrong on Motherwell, I shouldn’t have included them, and I thought St Johnstone was more recent than that, however my point is still fairly valid in that out of the 12 only 4 had longer than 9 years involvement
