Will we have our 1st 6000 plus crowd this season if so what a fantastic achievement that will be

I believe due to reductions in capacity, seats not used due to segregation in the Wright and Lord Stand and also covid protocols near tunnel area, and also a reduction in the away terrace from the original build capacity, I think that the tickets available to supporters is about 5,850. Maybe next season if the rear of the away end is reconfigured and the Covid restrictions removed, we may just be able to make the 6000.
I think the Newcastle game in 2013 was at a similar figure as the Sunderland one will be. A Sunderland supporting friend has advised me they sold out immediately and people are offering huge sums for them now!

and the main stand will still look half empty  but why a season ticket holder wouldn't turn up for this game is beyond me apart from the odd exception, illness etc

Out of interest how full did the Berlin Wall side feel on Saturday it always looks to me like you get a good few more in there.

It felt cramped to be honest, could hardly move.

1. Some people work shifts or have other weekend hobbies/responsibilities so were never going to come to all games - but it was cheaper to buy a ST if they were coming to more than half.

2. Lots of £20 child ST's for people who rarely bring, say, their grandchildren. The couple who always sit directly in front of us only brought their 2 grandchildren once, the other 22 games the 2 seats next to them were empty!

I think the club made a big mistake in making the C,D and E blocks equal re pricing. C used to be higher priced due to access to the suite (not for meals etc, just access to buy a drink/pie & go to the loo. E used to be where the cheap child tickets could be bought. Now (or at least this season), you could buy a £20 child ticket for the C block red seats which must have lost the club a lot of money as previously you couldn't buy a cheap child ticket for the red seats at all.

Raising the price of the child tickets to £70 is a start, but I think the club should revert back to them only being available in the E block, so as to increase revenue (and occupation rates) in the C and D blocks.

In fact, I'd go further and make E block unreserved seating, so have it as a "free for all" first come, first choice basis to reflect the child discounted pricing.

The Berlin Wall was over filled on Saturday IMO. People end up sat on the edge of the terracing or in front of the barriers. I really don't think you could squeeze any more on there. Behind the goal looked a bit more spacious towards the sides. I don't think we could ever hit 6000 at home without it being dangerous.

Thanks Berlinwaller from the Bartercard you look quite spread out.

Ken H that is a good point about block E also I would raise the price of the kids season tickets in the seats but maybe leave it as it is for terracing, it's not as big a deal if people with terraced tickets don't show.

Seating sold out as per the clubs latest tweet. Less than 500 standing remaining. Looking like a potential record attendance for this one.

It would probably be more effort than it's worth but could there be any value in contacting season ticket holders with a record of non attendance to see if their tickets could be resold. Would be really great to see the main stand properly full.

Sadly, the club aren't interested. I used to "swap" my seat for a standing ticket (usually Berlin Wall) when I had friends who'd attend occasionally so I could stand with them. My son would occasionally do the same when he had school friends in the home standing area. Now, any request like that is met with a resounding "no" from the club shop and the ticket office manager. They just won't do it.

A few weeks ago, my son couldn't come, but I had a friend who wanted to come instead. I asked at the club shop whether I could "upgrade" my son's student ticket for the day to an adult ticket and pay the extra £10 difference, but, again, told no. So, my friend didn't come and I was sat next to an empty seat. It's madness.

There needs to be some flexibility from the club. There's a clear shortage of seated tickets available, so it makes no sense not to let seated ST holders "swap" or "upgrade".

I would guess maybe it was easier for the club to swap seating to standing tickets previously when the games had no risk of selling out, I'm surprised they wouldn't let you upgrade a ticket though.

I imagine it is also tough to implement any kind of system whereby fans can return tickets that can be resold if they can't attend, although if attendances keep improving it could be worth the club investigating, especially before any talk of expanding the ground begins.

From experience I know that a number of season ticket holders in C Premier do let their regular seats be used by friend / family when they are unable to use it themselves. I have no problem with that. Better that the seat is used rather than it left empty. The transaction is obviously done between the parties concerned and not through official club channels. Again no problem with that arrangement BUT for the club to resale the seat could be an administrative problem....
