Stockport obviously have money and can likely pay a higher wage, but again no idea if that equates to having upwards of £500k ready to throw at a transfer fee. That said, they spent a 'significant' (although undisclosed) fee on Madden who was 31 at the time.
On Nixon, his contacts base will most likely be agents. It's in their interests to drip feed and exaggerate potential transfer interest to try and strengthen their negotiating position for contracts/transfers etc.
The article relating to Hibs did say it was unlikely that they'd make a move this summer......that's probably because they are not prepared to pay the asking price.
