Hopefully our new head of recruitment has seen good things from Love during their time at Salford

Looks like our new head of recruitment was behind this signing - good to see him having some immediate impact/influence.

Interesting signing. Was playing at league 2 level with Salford last season but to be fair they did offer him a new contract so wanted to keep him. And the fact that he opted for us instead is a good sign that we are attracting players. Some experience at league 1 level with Shrewsbury too, which is good.

Welcome, Donald.

Says he heard about our interest last week so I am guessing Derek has been left frustrated and other signings haven't come off as we must have approached players earlier than last week.

Seems a solid start to our signings!

Looking into his background and struggling at Sunderland - he made his Man Utd debut against Sunderland and looks to have done an impressive job, so much so that Utd managed to flog him for good money to Sunderland. In hindsight, looks like he was never going to quite be up to PL standard which is probably why Sunderland fans judge him so harshly - against the expectation he came with (sizeable fee too with Paddy McNair).

However, we're not judging players on how able they are to play in the PL, we just need them to be solid options in L1!

Looks to have gotten some good experience under his belt at Shrewsbury and Salford at this kind of level. Watched him play for Salford when they had a televised game vs Mansfield a month or two back. Was actually playing at DM for Salford that day and looked a tidy player. Also think it's telling that they wanted to keep him.

Barry Roche was the worst goalkeeper Chesterfield fans had ever seen, and look how that ended up. :)

One thing I noticed in Donald's interview was him saying that he is going to be a squad player, not sure if he meant it like that, but he can play a number of positions, and we need players like that, so for me it is a solid start, and you don't come through united's academy if you are a bad player.

Hopefully the flood gates start to open now.

A "group of announcements" today according to a director.

I hope one of them is Graham Carey.

I actually thought that the way in which the announcement was posted on the MFC website was rather interesting. Initially I thought we must be having a concert at The Mazuma featuring a Beatles tribute band!!
Obviously someone with a sense of humour involved. Always a good thing in my opinion.
So, can we assume that unless a player has a name which fits into a popular song somehow, he will not be joining the Adam's Family??
Seriously, I am looking forward to seeing further announcements about new players very soon.
The wine and the football seem better in the sunshine!!

Does this signing suggest one of Cooney or McLaughlin may be close to leaving? I know they were both made available for transfer

lets not forget DA was playing a left sided Greg Leigh over on that side, that says something.

Seem to remember a certain Vadain Oliver. Used up front on his own, couldn't do a thing. Goes to Gills and Northants under different systems and we know the rest.

I'll wait and see how the new lads are before passing judgement but the latest signing didn't play that many games of later for Lincoln but maybe DA has pulled of another master stroke as his assessment of players is usually excellent.
