Loan deals

Would be interested how a,manager gets to know of players available for loan. To take somebody from Southampton to our club in the north west must involve a bit of research.

I know. If only we had a Recruitment Manager to help with such things.

Yep would be good to know how they sort or offer a relocation package?? Or do they ask a local ish based player to accommodate them or has the club got a house it uses to house loan players ??
Just wondering how it all works

In reply to Gladys, regarding loan players and relocation, it is often by negotiation with the loaning club and his agent. All details are set out in a loan agreement and submitted with other documents to the EFL, EPL and the FA. It would stipulate the weekly (monthly) amount the the two clubs have agreed for the , in this case MFC, to pay towards the players wages, the bonus structure of the club, any individual bonus that had been negotiated on the players behalf, and also the bona fida expenses, ie travelling to home address on a number of times during the loan from his temporary address, living costs, either accommodation or rental charges(and possibly utility costs). Whilst it may it seem “over the top” and slanted in the players favour, it should be remembered that the incoming loan player has already non avoidable costs at his home base, ie rent, mortgage, utilities etc , so in effect it is to ensure that the player is not financially disadvantaged by being on loan. Hope that explains matters, as people will now see, it’s maybe not as straightforward as might be imagined

Still unsure how a club knows who is up for a loan....(.despite a club having a Recruitment manager who has a phone and does his research....  )

Is a circular issued by the clubs who want to loan out a player to say all EFL1 clubs in our case... :?: :?: :?:

I would think that there is some database about all footballers in the country that every club has access to.

Think you've answered your own question RR - doing research and having a phone! They'll have done their own scouting already - crunching a few numbers, watching footage of games, maybe seeing a few in person etc. Then there's speaking to contacts within the game to try and get things moving, trying to get an idea of their personality etc.

I imagine agents/clubs who want to see their player go out on loan will have ways of putting the word out. I think some larger clubs have loan managers too who are in charge of overseeing these kinds of things.

I don't think there's a 100% set way of doing it, it'll probably vary from situation to situation. Sometimes the PL club might be directly advertising it, other times the lower league club might enquire about a certain player they've got their eye on.

Most clubs will be subscribed to some kind of data scouting tool. I think most are probably signed up on Wyscout which has loads of footage from games at all levels across the world and some good stats/data analysis stuff. Another one I think a lot of clubs use is StatsBomb.

To add further info, with regard to Redrobo, and subsequently little shrimp, quite number of the premier league clubs, if not all, have a dedicated loan manager who is also quite often the “loan arranger” how identifies which of their players need to go out on a loan and at what level, and for how long. During the course of a players loan, the loan manager leases with both the loaning club and the player and watches videos live games so as to monitor the players progress. The admin offices of both the EFL, EPL and the National League will forward on club emails that “advertise players available for transfer or loan, this maybe applies more in the lower divisions and non—league. The other thing is that whilst football is a the National sport it is in employment terms a very small pond, there are including the top two divisions in Scotland, , and the National Leagues, about 180 clubs, if you said each club had at the very most 30 football staff, that’s not a massive amount. I would be very sure that someone at each club, would know at least a couple of people at every other club, and football has a very good grapevine!
