Spamhaus Blocking Posts???

Spamhaus Blocking Posts???

Postby Keith » Sun Jul 24, 2022 4:21 pm

Since the server move/downtime, it appears that a few people, myself included, are having trouble posting due to a Spam filter. They get an error message similar to this one:

The easiest way around this is using a VPN. But, as there have been a few people contacting me about this issue, other ways to fix it appear to be logging out, then back in again or, switch the router off for thirty seconds, then back on again.

It has been an issue for some people for a while, but today, it appears that a lot of us are affected.

If you have continued problems, please email me with either a screenshot, or the IP address.

PS Hopefully, once back on again, the issue will be resolved.

I know some people are continuing to have problems. Other people have reset routers and the problem has resolved itself. I don't know how big the problem is, so if you are having permanent or intermittent issues, please email me at the address above, with the error message.

Sorry about this, I've no idea why it is happening.

Also, please let me know what browser you are using (Chrome, Firefox, Opera etc) as that may be relevant.

Keith... not knowing the site was down last week I tried to view. A black, white and grey layout came up with the topics listed e.g. General Discussion, Members etc.

Thinking it was a new layout (and possibly doing the wrong thing) , I selected an option and came across the name SKENZO, which on researching appears to be some American domain site.

Are you aware of this ? Have done a security scan and everything seems OK but it still feels a bit dodgy!

Was this the other day Alan? I think when the site was down, there was a listing for domains that appeared for a while. Basically, an advert. Once we got closer (landing on the company that hosts the site) then the page changed to a white background & "404 Error".

It would appear that some of the host's own IP address are the ones triggering the Spamhaus response, which is why it appears random. I'm *guessing* that a different IP address at their end is used when posting to the forum, hence why it happens sometimes and not others. I've changed a setting on the forum, which. *hopefully* will deactivate the Spam block most of the time.

If you still have problems, please email me, otherwise I won't know, or, if it is randomly letting you post, but not others, please post here.

I've been getting the same error message tonight using Opera, but switching on the inbuilt vpn solves it.

I've made a forum change which will hopefully stop the Spamhaus check. Let me know if it is still a problem (although, it is happening to me so often, I think I'll notice!   )

Well, that post went okay, so 'fingers crossed'... (switched to a different network to see what happens?)

Was that last blocking, before or after 5pm? I only made the latest change at about 5pm.

Hope you & yours are all okay. I can think of better places to be on a Sunday, than the RLI.
