Really hope Cole isn’t leaving because at the moment the options to replace him are in my opinion zero. The obvious replacement would be Obika but he was absolutely woeful this evening. Very slow and in the second half the ball came to him four times and each time went straight to the opposition. He looks very weak to me and not right at all.

On a brighter note the defensive side of our game was again very solid. Just don’t know where the goals are going to come from.

Cooney might come in at left back now, right footed but still scored 2 goals from a left back position in that game against Man United a few seasons back, cutting inside and shooting with his right foot for both goals.

Can someone explain to me why we brought Fane on when one down?

Surprised he didn't start but he seems Derek has to find a place for Gibbo somewhere in the team even out of position.

Honest assessment, from a Wanderer (have read doc's piece which lacks a little balance). Thought DA had set Morecambe up very well to counter what we do and came very close to succeeding. I sit level with the 6 yard box at the opposite end to the away following.
Delaney I thought was immense similar to how he played for us, Ash Hunter is a real talent and has an engine on him think he could do a job for most teams, unlucky to lose the ball in the build up for the goal trying to force things and the pass did not come off. Having said that the forward movement of your striker (s) was predictable for our back line.
Couple of things, the lad who picked up the booking only seen it the once but it looked like he caught Lee and then the ball, looked like a foul but only seen once. In the second half there was an elbow that I suspect the linesman saw but bottled. And then when Bradley turned Melrose inside out it looked to me like a hamstring injury rather than a head injury (Doc).
Officials were poor again, your team industrious and hard working. I suspect IE will make a raft of changes at the weekend as we take on Wednesday so another new attacking set up.

Defensive set-up very good from DA again, slight change to the back three formation we've been playing previously and it seemed to work a treat in limiting Bolton, who barely had scraps to go off in attack. Was a much more solid performance than the 1-1 there last season! Got very lucky in the first half in that game.

Undone on the break when we tried to counter-attack which, given how solid our defensive shape was, was always going to be the best route for Bolton to get a goal. DA made the point in his interview about not quite choosing the right pass or final ball when in possession, which I think is fair.

Missing Stockton stood out more last night than Saturday I felt. Could really have done with his ability to hold the ball up at times, and with Santos suspended it would have been a great time for him to try and get some more joy out of their defence. Obika grafted and held the shape well, but just doesn't possess the same hold up ability. Good to see him trying to run in behind a bit more, but disappointing that he managed to be offside that many times early on. Hopefully he continues to sharpen up a bit.

Guessing Melbourne was ankle or knee given how much pain he was in, although watching it back it does kind of look a bit hamstring-like. Fingers crossed he won't be out for too long.

Obika competes well with Danny Carlton for the offside trophy
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think
