Cole Stockton Generally?

Reading between the lines I’ll be very surprised if Cole ever dons a Morecambe shirt again. As we all know in life as well as football ‘shithousery’ is alive and well.

Case in point Dion Charles. He wanted a move from Accy but for whatever reason it wasn’t happening as fast as he and no doubt his agent would have liked. Can’t remember the reason given but he remained at Accy for the rest of the season but never played a game for the first team again. His contract expired and he immediately signs for our old friends Bolton. Tell me shithousery was not going on behind the scenes and I won’t believe you.

The only difference is Charles is a lot younger than Stockton so could bide his time a bit more.

If Cole turns out to be genuinely ill then fair enough but the cynic in me thinks we could easily end up with a Dion Charles scenario at Morecambe.

Hero to zero. Maybe?

I personally think he will struggle at another club he has only had 1 good season really so sell him at best price and get in another striker Quigley at Stockport could be a good shout..

I think DA is an admirer of Quigley. I’m basing this on the game at Barrow a couple of seasons ago. Quigley played well and at the end DA made a beeline for him shaking his hand and having a word. Walked past many other players to go to him.

However a lot of things would have to fall into place for us to sign him before the end of the window.

I hope Obika clicks in to. gear soon. It will obviously take a few games to get up to match speed. I reckon we're going to have to find the answer within the existing... ...'healthy'... squad.

If Obika seems to be struggling , might it be worth giving AOC a run out up front for the last 30 mins. He is tall and strong and could hold the ball up whilst others make the runs off him. Just a thought as I don't like to see talent wasted !

Anthony O’Connor replacing Stockton up front? Please tell me it won’t come to that

AOC scored a couple with his head and a decent shot at Spurs last season. Not bad for a defender. I could think of worse options. If the current situation doesn’t improve we may have to give him a go up top.

Don't think Quigley would be expensive

Just for clarity, Dion Charles signed for Bolton on 1st Jan for a fee, undisclosed, but reportedly around 400k, not after his contract expired. The fact about not playing for Accy again after spitting his dummy out is accurate however as Phoenix Shrimp said.
So we will see.

On the bench as not 100% I'm told, but in the squad.

Does anyone know what the illness was ??

Fit enough to travel and be on the bench so can`t be too bad

Scott Quigley on the bench for Stockport. Also on their bench ex Shrimps Academy player Ollie Crankshaw.

Cole wore a Morecambe shirt the entire second half, and did ok, put himself about, got booked, got fouled. We shall see what happens.

Regarding Quigley at Stockport - They made 5 subs and he wasn`t one of them

Read into that what you want

I may be wrong but I don't think Cole came over to clap supporters at end and was certainly first off the pitch. I thought this significant!

Got that one wrong LOL. However there’s wearing the shirt and wearing the shirt with pride. In all his games this season he looks to me like he’s going through the motions and is not the player of the last couple of seasons. Didn’t come over to the fans at the end with the rest of them either. Interesting to see what happens in the next game!

Not surprised, the shithouse is probably embarrassed by his antics.

That's a bit extreme! Let's not forget that Cole played his part in getting us up to League one and his goals kept us up last season. Plus the fact that none of us know what is going on or what has gone on. So perhaps you'd like to enlighten us as to what 'his antics' are?

They are happy to get rid of him, Quigley is refusing to go anywhere if his wages aren’t the same as he’s on at Stockport. He’s turned down several offers because of that. Maybe as deadline day looms County will be prepared to give him a pay off that will mean he won’t be out of pocket.

I don’t know the exact figures but at the time he said he needed to move to be closer to home in Shrewsbury. As we were training 10 minutes further along the M60 at the time that didn’t really wash.

I believe we’ve tried to get him back but only at the figure we offered to try and keep him originally, same as we did when Rooney came back. We’re out of that race now, barring some major movements in our squad.

Looking at it from Cole's point of view he probably feels that time is running out for the chance to move to a bigger club. However, it appears that we won't let him go unless the money is right. The worst thing he can do is perform badly now. If it was me (50 years ago! ) I wouldn't sign a new contact but would play my best under the existing contract until Xmas when price on his head will have to come down and he'd have a better chance of getting away.

Very similar to what was suggested on Friday during the Radio Lancashire Sports show. It was suggested that the club should given him the increase in money but no contract until the end of the season at which time he could leave with the clubs thanks.
