Scott Quigley's last game last night ?

Scott Quigley's last game last night ?

Postby redrobo » Wed Aug 24, 2022 4:54 pm

A post on the Stockport County Fans Forum is asking the question if last night was his last game in Stockport colours.... :?: :?: :?:

IF it was it will be interesting to see which club he signs for with Wrexham or Shrewsbury contenders as he lives near Shrewsbury...and left Barrow due to the distance he had to travel to get to Holker Street.

Is this:

A: Wishful Thinking
B: Dropping a Hint
or
C: Off Topic

“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

So what are the reasons over and above the distance to Holker Street. :?: Money was I accept one reason but you imply that there are others...

Please tell....

Wanted to be closer to home which suggests the distance to Barrow was certainly a factor.

I haven’t implied ‘other’ reasons at all. It was all about money. He had to go to Holker St for home games, that was it. It’s not like we trained there 4 days a week. When his contract was running out he switched agent and said agent made it very clear that he wouldn’t be re-signing for what we offered him. I have no issue with that tbh, it’s a short career and players have to maximise their earning potential while they can.

Good luck to him, whatever happens and wherever he ends up, he’ll always have a place in our history.

The King (Derek) is hoping to have a loan signing in for tomorrow. He says a forward with us having injuries there.

Barrow haven’t trained in Barrow for the last few years - the only time the players come to Barrow is for home matches. Apparently for home Saturday games they stay in a local hotel on the Friday night. Their current training base is in Salford - I think when Quigley was there it was based in Rochdale. Seems to work well for them, they can attract more players being affectively a Manchester based side. Most Bluebird fans I’ve spoken to think it’s a good arrangement.

I don’t think we’ve trained in Barrow since the early 80s tbfl. In the Ray Wilkie glory years the local lads trained together and the Geordies trained together then they’d do ten minutes on set pieces on matchdays. Different times.

They come up on Friday morning, training session at HS/the Furness Rovers pitch just by HS or at Holker Old Boys, then some of the players go into schools and Wild goes to meet local businesses or community groups.

I think the long term plan is to move into the BAE Sports club which would be a great facility for L2 level. Need to progress work on the academy as well as making the first team side of things a bit more stable. We’ll get there eventually….hopefully…..maybe.
