Robinson or Adams

There are a lot of murmers around at the moment regarding the lack of atmosphere at The Mazuma. Personally i think the football under Robinson was a lot more entertaining and that's what created the atmosphere and my prefered choice. The downside is, there is a good chance we would have got relegated had he stayed. The opposite side of the coin is the way Derek sets his stall out not to get beat. This has obviously been more effective regarding promotion and staying in League one, but can be pretty painful to watch at times.

And with our playing budget you can't have both.

At least Derek is professional and wants to do the right thing by the club, Robinson just wants to the right thing by Robinson.

Robinson was more attacking minded but it almost cost us our L1 place. He went man for man against most teams and we got pulled apart. Cole Stockton carried us through but you could argue that was down to the attacking style Robinson played. We were going down until Derek came back in.

As the smallest L1 club, we need somebody like Derek to get enough points to stay up. Some fans think we should be steam rolling these L1 clubs like they do on FIFA.

The only thing Robbo had going for him was a catchy song.

Absolutely not true about our promotion season. In the games vs promotion rivals, yes a few were in the mould of being tough to break down etc. But for the most part, it was incredibly exciting counter attacking football. Counter attacking doesn't necessarily equal negativeness/defensiveness.

I'm hoping the addition of Shaw at DM will give Adams a bit more confidence to field an extra attacking player instead of an extra DM, and we can offer a bit more agency when we win the ball back, particularly against weaker sides.

Funny thing with Robinson/Adams is while they had quite different methods, the end product wasn't too dissimilar - low possession, counter attacking, emphasis on pressing, quite a lot of long/direct balls. It's an absolute myth that Robinson was trying to get us playing champagne tiki-taka, albeit one I think he liked to perpetuate.

The football played under Robinson between the signings of Bedeau/Carson and him leaving was superb. Exciting, creating chances, squeezing times higher up the pitch (Bedeau/Carson helped enable this I think), counter-pressing. We deserved more points from games like Gillingham and Bolton. Had he stayed there was a good chance we would have stayed up if those performances had continued.

Worth remembering the huge dip under Adams before he got a set-up really tied down that suited the players and his methods, and consequently we had that streak of form with three wins that basically kept us up.

Main issue for both of them has been coming into squads that needed lots of work to get them to suit their methods, and it taking a while to sort that.

They've both got differences, but like most managers they work best when they're able to have a group of players that can really carry out their instructions and suit the style they want to play.

Bit pointless discussion. Robinson sacked us off mid season and isn't coming back.

Robinson played some good football at times but Cole made us look better than we really were.

Adams may just keep us up but it's probably not going to be amazing to watch.

It has to be Derek Adams for me.

You can see that he is organising the team better as the season has gone on. We won't play any team as good as Sheffield Wednesday again this season. As mentioned Barry Bannon is sublime at this level , he really should be in the Championship.

I think we will achieve enough good results against the other 10 or 11 teams that are lower half of the league to stay out of the bottom 4 at the end of the season.

You can count the amount of teams on one hand who will be better than Sheff Wed.

We've played 5 of the current top 12 + MK Dons & Oxford (regular play off contenders). No need to panic yet, we will start winning soon

No contest for me....

Whilst Judas's style was good to watch at times I felt we were destined for relegation and his departure wasn't that hard to live with and to be honest i was delighted.

DA has to date this season played an obviously more defensive game but we knew that was his way when he returned.

As we start to play teams in the lower part of the league our form should get better.

Sheffield are destined for promotion and when you consider their budget is it any wonder we found it difficult to break them down...I mean Bannon is in a different class to what we normally play against week in week out.

I've not done the maths, but I think we'd find that Derek's 'points per game' after his return, for the rest of that season, is almost identical to Robinson's.

I also read a stat today that Morecambe had the least shots on target this season in the EFL and the lowest % of possession. Robinson, Adams, Klopp or Pep - no one will win games like that.

We are far too overweight at a squad of players. Some people look incredibly unfit and we almost don't look a professional outfit some weeks. The difference is clear with some of the lads who have come in from bigger clubs etc.

Not saying we aren't making good of a small budget and a 'small' club but I can't see us winning anymore than 10 games this season. Not unless we change our ambition.

For me, Adams won't be a long term thing and he'll be hoping for another skin of the teeth survival season, which, is an achievement let's be realistic.

As it stands I think to win 10 from 38 would be very surprising, 2 or 3 of what I considered to be 'lesser' teams within our reach have already won 3 or 4 games.
We have been in sh!t street before and got out of it, so I still live in hope we get something from FGR, Cambridge, Accy and Burton in the next few games otherwise that's it imo
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Maybe so - but all stats are not always equal, and personally I think this one is skewed.

I suspect that Derek has had a far tougher run of games (Judas was in charge for all 10 of the fixtures vs sides that finished below)... we stayed up last season despite what looked like a tricky run of fixtures on paper, and this season I think we have had a difficult start.

5 of the next 7 fixtures are against teams that will probably in our 'mini-league' come the end of the season - I think you need to judge his results/methods so far this season after this point.

Robinson did get some great results for us - but very few after the initial buzz/excitement of being a League One club.

Shaw , Watts , Taylor , Weir to start with.

Of the 3 you mentioned 2 couldn't have been re-signed this season. I think our midfield is better this season. It's up top where I am worried , will Cole snap out of his sulk and play like we know he can.

Toums, a brilliant player, but the years were catching up on him, no longer League One standard for that reason.

Phillips, flattered to deceive and really didn't do that much. Considering he was on set pieces, his goal return and assists, was pretty poor. I'm not bothered that he didn't come to us.

Wildig, I'd have loved to see stay, but his choice to go.

Shaw looks immense. He can do the dirty work, and he can pass a ball too.
Watts looks like he could be a real gem.
Weir & Taylor both better than Phillips.

I think we're actually better and potentially more creative in midfield this season.
