Morecambe 1 [Weir] Cambridge 2 MATCH THREAD

Postby Keith » Thu Sep 22, 2022 11:48 am

Starting the match thread early this week, with news sent to me, about the referee who has been allocated the game.

We’ve got Robert Madden in charge on Saturday for the Cambridge match. He’s one of the top Scottish refs. He's already done World Cup, Nations League, Champion’s League, Europa Conference League, Greek League and loads of International matches all over the world including England v Wales!

But he’s never been in charge of us so he’s now reached his peak.

Given 24 yellows and 3 reds in eight matches so far this season in the EFL.

Everyone who complains about the standard of refereeing in League One, best bite your lip on Saturday!

Talking to some of our Bradford City fans, and he refereed their first game of the season and apparently had a shocker!

Sorry to hijack your thread Keith but Mrs Sak has asked me how refs are allocated to a game and I have no idea, anybody know?

Two minutes gone, and good crosses at both ends of the pitch that could have been connected with! Wide open game to start with.

What a lovely goal! Phillips through ball was superb, Weir shrugged his marker off and slotted home really nicely. :D :D :D

Well, it's been coming for a long time, with masses of pressure from Cambridge. Need to up our game.

Decent game of football, but Cambridge slightly on top. Our goal was a really nice break-away, but against the run of play, and most of the pressure is from Cambridge. Ten corners to none tells a story.

Was about to write, that a draw is probably fair, then we switch off and concede. We've looked more like an away side, than home.

Go down with a fight not a whimper.
Stockton can just do one. No effort and clearly doesn't want to be here.
We are not good enough to carry him.

8 shots to 20 shots
0 corners to 13 corners

Cole needs to be on the bench until he can be arsed. We look like we have potential, Weir & Phillips look good upfront but we need to improve. If Cambridge had put the open-goal way, we'd have been well beaten by a side that lost their last two and haven't won a game away from home.

This was another of our 'must win' games in our 'mini-league' of relegation sides.

Stockton lazy, why did he bring a centre half on with 5 minutes to go? Donald isn't a captain, Said this a few weeks ago but when we only have 30/40% possesion in League One, it won't get you far.

And the ref was shocking
Cambridge conned him and he fell for it
he must be embarrassed with the antics he fell for when he watches his performance
