Burton Albion 1 Morecambe 1 [Delaney] LIVE THREAD

Shocking free kick. We are clueless. Can't string two passes together. Our position in the league reflects this. Only a matter of time before Burton score again. I hate being negative, but how on earth are we ever going to win another game?

We don't deserve it, but we'll take it! Now let's grab something else.

O'Connor on for Shaw??? Eh??

McLoughlin must have kicked Adams' cat or something. Adams prefers O'Connor & Fane in midfield rather than McLoughlin, in a game we really need to win?

Hopefully O'Connor will get his head on something and score!

Burton player headed wide from about four yards out!

Two shots on target, both from defenders. No shots from midfielders or forwards. Can't think what the problem is.

The only thing 1-1 does, is increase the likelihood of us playing Burton again next season, in League Two.

Well, a point is a point after all. If we could only pass to our own players! Fortunately Burton came down to our level second half. We have played far better football against far better teams than Burton, why do we drop our game against weaker teams? At least Derek was prepared to use his subs earlier than the 80th minute and there was some improvement.
It will need massive improvement all round to get us up the league. Got to keep the faith.

We really need to start pressing teams from the off to get some possession. Long kicks, long throws not playing out from the back. We are constantly on the back foot. DA talks about possession not winning games, but if you have no possession how do you create chances

You have to admire Delaney.

Must have been a blow to him being made available for transfer , but give him credit , he has been one of the few success stories so far. I would like to think he will be offered a contract for next season.
Maybe even captaincy material.

Definitely. I wasn't there but the stats seem to suggest we did better 2nd half although the first half does sound dreadful. The total number of our passes was only slightly less than Burton. It bears out my thoughts that we play better against the good sides than we do against teams at the bottom.

5 Yellow cards is a worry although Delaney's was for "excessive celebration" !

6 points from safety would not be that bad if we were winning 1 or 2 games but we aren`t

We can turn it round but it`s going to take a massive effort

Maybe next week against Barnsley start with ...

Ripley

Cooney Delaney Badeau Rawson Gibson

Weir Shaw Watts

Phillips Stockton

Derek has just said in his interview that we had the best chances in the game and Burton only had a couple of efforts that tested Connor

Mmm interesting to say the least

Keeps us in touch but we do need to start taking chances. You would hope Cole would produce against teams in and about us and his drought is worrying.

I like Derek's interviews, is there any point in hammering a young group of players in the media? He has had a pop at Cole for his antics but he does seem to try and big up the squad rather than knock them.

In fairness, Burton didn't exactly play well and didn't deserve to win. That said, we were pretty awful as well - it was a fair point between two teams putting in pretty shoddy performances.

I get why we are kind of stuck with the back three at the moment with all our absences, but against poorer teams it's a formation that's just not suited to us at all. Wing backs are receiving the ball far too deep and don't have an option down the line, so it's either a short pass inside to a marked midfielder or lump it long. We don't use our centre backs anywhere near aggressively enough in possession. They need to be carrying the ball out of defence further and letting our wing backs push down the line.

How Shaw avoided a red must have been a tough one for the Burton fans.
