DISCOVERY twice.....Transatlantic with a week in the East Caribbean 4 years ago, then in February this year for two weeks in the Eastern Caribbean when DISCOVERY was a guinea pig cruise as things began to open ip again from Covid.

Also been on DREAM and CELEBRATION when they were Thomson as against Marella. Different label, same excellent VFM cruises

Also did lots of cruises of different lengths and Ports of Call aboard several of Her Majesty's Ships of the Grey Funnel Line. ;)

I don't think that DISCOVERY 2 is much different from DISCOVERY, so what do you want to know exactly? You'll fine lots of views on the Trip Advisor Cruises Forum, and also the Cruise Critic Forum.

Went on a seven-night cruise on the Marella Dream shortly before the Covid lockdown. Excellent value for money and a relaxed atmosphere onboard.

The Marella ships are cashless, so everything is paid for by card.

Booked for a three-week cruise on the Discovery 2 early next year.

Thanks to those who have been in touch and have decided to book for a cruise to Turkey, Israel and Jordan in November 2023.

Wife always wanted to visit Petra so that was the deciding factor.

My only question mark about Petra is how many cruise ships are visiting Aqaba at the same time as DISCOVERY 2? The more cruise ships then the greater the number of folk wanting to visit Petra, which could possibly saturate the place. Aqaba itself has got little to offer.

I notice that DISCOVERY 2 is also visiting Alanya in Turkey. Alanya is quite east along the Turkey Mediterranean coast. The further east you go in Turkey the more Islamic it seems to become. It's a decent enough place with a wonderful castle/fortress, but seems to lack what most Turkish Resorts further west or up the Aegean coast offer.

If where you're going in the Suez Canal region of Egypt is anything like Alexandria then plan a day by the pool onboard DISCOVERY 2.

Transiting the Suez Canal was a wonderful experience we went through as the sun was coming up,
Petra is a lot of walking on uneven ground but we’ll worth the visit
We’ve done a few Marella cruises they are good value if you pick the right one and not too high brow although there is the option to dress up if you want but not everyone does
