Pretty much as expected. Fane adding to the defensive element, but if we go behind, I hope he goes off for McLoughlin or Connolly. I like his breaking up qualities, but he doesn't create or score, so if we need a goal (or two) I don't see much point in keeping him in midfield.

Fingers crossed we get something.

It's really weird seeing us playing at home, in our away kit, especially with Barnsley playing in red!

So........why are we in our away kit? Did Barnsley forget to bring their "change" kit with them?

Our away kit has had 'Breast Cancer' ribbons attached, as part of a charity fundraiser. Not sure why it wasn't on the home shirt?

It's been a scrappy game, but that's probably suiting us.

AGGGHHHH...

Cole put the ball over the stand from seven yards out! It wasn't an easy chance, but it was one he'd have buried last season!

Proper poacher's goal! :D

Long throw from Cooney, nodded on by Rawson. Their defender tied himself up in knots and the ball dribbled through to Phillips who slotted home.

COME ON!!!

Thought we looked decent the first half if not amazing. I think if we were having a decent season, then after that half I'd feel pretty good about the second half. Unfortunately, we've had a rough season, so I've got just about 0 faith for the next 45'. Hopefully we can get a 2nd quickly.

All going to plan so far! Fane doing exactly what Fane is there to do.

Cooney having a great game so far, probably my MotM so far. His saving tackle was perfect, just as they were about to equalise, his long throws causing chaos in Barnsley's area and he tackled, beat two players, then passed sublimely to Cole, who almost threaded Weir in. I've been calling for him to be in the side, so perhaps 'confirmation bias', but so far, so good.

That had to be a penalty!

One of the tackles may have taken the ball from Gibbo, but then the second must have taken the player out???

Yesssss!!!! Off the bottom of the table too.

Still need to find a way to get some more goals, and maybe stay onside, but a good performance today.

Think Jack Daniels Fire could be taking a hammering tonight... :D :D :D

Excellent performance but Fane gives me too many heart attacks in a game with some of his tackles.

My biggest negative from that game was Fane. His decision making's so slow if you were going for a meal with him you'd have to give him the menu at least 24 hrs (if not days!) before. At least 3 times Connelly was in a great position to run onto a quick through ball, and 3 times Fane couldn't react not just quick enough, but an arthritic 54 year old like me could have done better. If I was Connelly I'd be having very stern words with him.

I disagree. He isn't in the team for his creativity. But he chopped their game up, making it difficult for Barnsley to get in to any kind of rhythm. Yes, at times his lack of creativity is frustrating, but I'm happy with his game today... ...break it up, make a simple pass to keep possession.

Keith, even a simple pass takes 5 minutes thought. It's not lack of creativity I'm criticising him for, it's that painfully slow decision making, and it was there all game, not just the instances I mentioned with Connelly.

....but gave too many needless fouls in dangerous areas...not as though it was an isolated game as he does it game after game...some have resulted in away goals....

Sorry not for me or for those around me including an ex Director....
