Fane is in the team to do the dirty work, not hit 40 yard passes or tricky one twos that dazzle the opposition. Last week against Burton he came on as a second half sub and for me he changed the game. He never stopped running and put his foot, and head, into places where it hurts, constantly breaking up Burton's possession. Today was a very similar performance, giving 100%. I agree about his passing which at times can be frustrating, but as I said earlier, he is not in the team for his passing skills.

I thought Fane did well overall. A few mistakes but we were a better team with him in it.

The only player I’d criticise would be Stockton who was like a statue for most of the game. I’d start a front two of Connelly and Phillips vs Cheltenham, personally.

Anyway, an excellent win where we actually pressed high which we must continue to do in future games, rather than sit back. If we win against Cheltenham and get something out of our game in hand then things will suddenly look much brighter.

Well done lads.

Alright, nearly 11.30 and alcohol involved, but remembering the Jim Bentley days, how many on here were saying they'd rather we lose 3-2 going for it than barely survive trying to keep it tight.

I don't know what referees are watching when the centre backs are wrestling Cole and pulling him to the ground.

We struggle against teams that ping it about nicely with plenty of movement but we were able to bully a top 6 side yesterday and we were worthy of our win.

Can't understand people knocking Fanè. If he doesn't do the horrible stuff like winning tackles and hunting the ball down, Shaw(what a player) and weir can't do the attacking stuff. It is pretty basic really. Cole drifted about abit and i quite liked it but he is in need of a goal. Our CB's were horrible and gave them nothing. Special mention for Ryan who seems to have lost the Caravan he was towing last season and looked back to his promotion season best.

Fans were brilliant. Glad to see the negative vibes from some haven't tarnished the young singers L1 experience.

Anybody want to buy a brand new Blue towel?

Really enjoyed the game from start to finish - didn`t let Barnsley bully us and we won the game by just been the better side over 90 minutes

Also a mention for the officials who i personally thought were quite decent for a change

The train journey home was the most enjoyable part of the day though especially listening to how hard done by the Billy Big Bollox Barnsley fans were and shouldn`t be playing teams like Morescum (as they called us) - Few of them even said when we play the reverse fixture we would get a hammering

Ah well onwards and upwards (so we aren`t relegated in October like some fans think !!!)

Good point. I thought it should have been a penalty for a foul on Gibbo. Two of them went in on him, I can't see how both of their defenders played the ball, one or the other must have taken Gibson out? That said, if Delaney had played to the whistle rather than appeal for a penalty, he'd have scored! And, perhaps they did both play the ball at the exact same time? But other than that, a few occasions I disagreed, but that's what fans do, looking through their own team's lens, and I don't think he did anything particularly wrong, which is good to see.

Gibbo tried to play the ball with his left foot and the Barnsley chap got the ball, if he’d have reached for it with his right, it would have been a pen as he’d have had to kick his foot. It was in front of us on The Bartercard. No pen was sadly correct. :o

Didn't the second player knock him down/over? Obviously, you've had a better view, so fair enough, and in that case, the ref didn't make any significant mistakes.

They did come together but it was because Gibbo went for the ball off balance with his left and leaned into him, it was after the other lad had got the ball. Sadly.

Best ref we have had this season and I don’t think there was a penalty. Suspect it would have been different shoreline if he had reffed Ipswich game!!

Typical that when we win our first home game of the season. I'm at work. Fantastic result and a clean sheet. Let's follow it up now tomorrow!

Best result and performance this season. The team drew deserved criticism before the game from some fans but really stepped up.

Saturday's game was Ousmane Fane and Ryan Cooney's best in League 1 with MFC - both performed brilliantly, would love to see how much ground they both covered.

Atmosphere was much better too, especially last 15 mins!!

I agree, Fane is given a job to do, which he did well on Saturday. Certainly for the first 20 minutes or so whilst Adam Phillips was on the left, Fane didn't give him a moment's peace which really curtailed Phillips' attempts.
