On Derek Adams interview, he said the club was skint---how is that with 4000+ gates??

The club have employed a lot of people that the fans do not see on match days but who are necessary to provide the administration and other requirements of a football club operating in EFL1.

Some may say that this is an area that we could economize on BUT before their arrival a huge amount of their day to day involvement was down to a very small group with certain Directors working their socks off (at times with little thanks) to keep OUR club in business.

Is that really fair to them and their families... :?: :?: :?:

Until the ownership problem is resolved (gone very quiet about Tyson taking over :o ) the lack of finance to divert to provide DA with the resources to build a team more than capable of a constant mid table position will remain nothing more than a wish rather than reality.

There is also the possibility/ probability of the 2 owners repaying themselves some of the money they have loaned to the club since 2018 which is quite legal but would reduce our liquidity.

I think that it where the problem lies along with increased off field staffing costs which significantly reduces any finance for DA to build his OWN team.

Until we find new owners (ie local consortium with connections already to our club) who are not looking for a huge return (if any :o ) on their investment then similar problems will exist going forward.

Rod mentioned that we are paying a loan from The Bond Group off.

Don't forget our playing staff budget and management team. Might be just about breaking even right now. Derek will need to lose a wage or two to be able to bring in a player

He tried that at the start of the season by putting a number of players on the transfer list but no one came in for them . Add to that our main asset Mr Stocktons worth is dwindling weekly , you can’t see anything changing any time soon !

If we try and sell a player, the Vultures will be circling. If we get a decent fee then there is the danger of our skint owner putting his hand in the till.
Do we utilise all the clubs facilities to make money? Accrington seem to be making the most of their new bar and Holt says any money raised boosts Coleys budget.

Wasn't comparing the wealth of our owners! My point is that they seem to use their facilities better than us to raise income which then leads to an increased playing budget. Simmer down there Bill.

Edit
Just seen that Accrington are showing todays game. We doing anything?

I agree. I've mentioned before how Accrington appear to keep a large number of fans at the ground after the game, spending money. We're pretty much shut-up shop by 7pm. I put my head in the door of the Wright & Lord suite for the MotM award a while back, there were about twenty-five people in there, most of them I'd guess were the sponsors' party. Why not try stuff like having a local band on up there, after the game? Attract fans up there, rather than it being an 'exclusive' [empty/shut] facility?

We let 4k people just leave the Stadium without spending any more money. The local pubs are packed, the chippy's are busy but the football club is pretty much closed. A pokey bar with nowhere to stand and the Boar Burger eaters are upstairs but most of us are walking home with our money in our pockets.

No news on anything being done at the club for the World Cup. We get twice the crowd that Accrington do but they put us to shame commercially.

I'm sure you are being sarcastic, but this is about Morecambe's income rather than discussing the World Cup.

I've seen that Kendal opened their "hospitality" for this afternoon's England game. Did MFC open their bar or suite?

They're following Keith's lead ;)

Oops I've just read the later post that it was switched on for the staff.....yea, that's different!

I have heard that no England group stage games will be shown.

Barrow are hiring out exec boxes for £45pp with buffet and unlimited drinks.

From what I see we only have two saleable assets Jacob and Adam and these could be made available in January

Did Jacob sign for 2 years ? If he did then there would be a fee but if clubs know we have to sell then the price isn't going to be huge.

Adam at his age and potential could be a decent fee if one of the big boys takes a punt on him.

Unless it's huge money, he's probably worth more to keep him until Summer, to help us avoid relegation as we're looking a completely different team with him in it.

Agreed. We need the club to have new owners by January. If someone puts a bid in before its sold , Del and Rodders might snap their hand off and take the money !
