Next Six Games

Port Vale
Accrington
Burton
Cheltenham
Cambridge
Port Vale

From Port Vale away, to Port Vale at home, these games may not make us safe, but could see us planning for League Two.

Port Vale are probably too good for us, a point and a defeat may be okay.

But the meaty bit in between is where we must win. If we win all four, we may be able to start believing in an escape.

A defeat to Burton, Accrington or Cambridge would probably see us relegated, as they are teams we need to catch. Ten points from those four games is probably the least we can get if we have any hope of survival.

Bottom of the league at Christmas rarely survive. Bottom by January 21st will be a lost cause.

Going down could actually be a blessing, fresh start with new players etc, poss new owners on the horizon.

I think staying up would always be better than going down. With new owners possibly on the horizon, then I'd definitely want to remain a League One club. If we can scab our way to fifth from bottom, by a single point, I'd be delighted. Getting back up again would be really difficult, and I'm not sure we'd ever achieve it. Regardless of where we end up, playing Ipswich, Sunderland, Derby County etc as 'equals' has been incredible. Away at Portman Road last season was fantastic!

The new owners could be as close as 5 or 6 weeks away according to Charlie on the latest podcast.

It's down to the EFL so that is a bit of a worry.

Staying up is definitely better than going down and maybe the recent share money input by Bond Group is to help with a player or 2 which could preserve that status and also keep the club's value higher in case a sale doesn't go through in time.

Quite simply we HAVE to remain in EFL1 because if we don't I doubt if we would ever get back even if any new owners would be prepared to bank roll an EFL2 club considering that even in that league there are and will be some big spenders all looking for that pot of gold that some may regard EFL1 as.

So as fans we have to be that 12th man and do our part in ensuring survival come May... :)

Colin and Jason claimed that they were paying wages etc before they officially took over the club so if any new owner is in place, could they invest in the club prior to taking over? Be in their interests to give us a better chance of staying up.

You'd have to say on our form all season, two wins and a couple of draws would not be a bad string of results. 45-46 points might be enough to stay up

Ww need to play behind closed doors, start winning games again and not be in a relegation battle every season

We have won 2 league games all season so don't understand why fans think we will all of a sudden start winning loads of matches

Port Vale won at Plymouth a couple of weeks ago so that's going to be very tough

Accy at home or away is always very difficult

Burton at home a tricky fixture with both teams scrapping

3 points from the 3 games is best we will get in my opinion

For me, it isn't that I expect us to win, it is simply, if we don't win these matches, we can start to plan for League Two, as there is no realistic way back. The 'middle four' are all 'six pointers'. The team who are bottom on Christmas Day, pretty much always go down, so we're up against it already.

Well, I didn't really expect anything from today, other than a defeat. Adams appeared to feel the same way and went for 0-0, then to keep it at 1-0. Six defenders until the 92nd minute?

I suppose, clutching at straws, we're in no worse a position than I expected, but playing like we did today, Accrington will thump us and we'll make them look great.

Next five games...
