"The more I practice, the luckier I get".

The more shots a team has, the greater the likelihood that they'll 'get lucky'. We're not bottom because we're 'unlucky', we're bottom because we play with six defenders and have one [crap] shot on target. We're so defensive that we're under pressure for too long, even against poor sides, like Port Vale. Invite pressure, don't shoot, then we'll pretty certain to have more 'bad luck' than 'good luck'. The goal we conceded was because a defender had gone forward to try and score, and was then out of position when they broke. Yes, if it had gone in, we may have scabbed something, because Port Vale were pretty dire too, but Max Melbourne has scored two league goals in his career. Had we played with natural goal scorers, perhaps it would have been a goal?

So how did that work out then?

Keith's right - we conceded yesterday because the team was caught on the break when the header against the post bounced out instead of in. I was dismayed that some of our number booed Derek yesterday. The bloke who really needs booing is too far away to hear them - at St Mirren. He left us in the you-know-what and then took two of our better players in the shape of Ayunga and the outstanding Carson. I think we've had it this season. But next year, Mr Adams will have his own squad in League Two - all the dead wood (and there's a hell of a lot of it at the Maz) will go. Derek knows how to get teams out of the division in the right direction. My biggest fear is that - if he goes - someone else may take us the other way. Remember Southend? Look at Jim's Rochdale now. That could be us if - with the ownership issues and all the other cash-flow problems preventing any changes in the squad currently are still unresolved - we also have somebody at the helm of the team who doesn't know what they're doing. Be careful what you wish for...

I hate it when fans boo. I have never booed a player or manager and never will ( I may criticise and moan, but never boo) Yesterday I stayed after the game and politely clapped the players off the pitch. I'm in agreement with the Doc. I would keep Derek as manager for next season, which is looking like it will be in league two. He knows the league, he knows the club and he knows which players need to be released. My fear is that if we bring a new manager in at the end of the season (Derek is going no where this season) then it will be another season of change, new players, new staff etc, etc and it will be a race back to non-league football. We need stability, not constant change. We all thought Robinson, on his three year contract was going to be the manager to take us forward and looked what happened there. Derek inherited a squad with the majority on two year contracts, a squad he did not want, so cut Derek some slack. PS, for what it's worth, I thought we deserved a point yesterday.

I think you've taken my post in the wrong way! We're losing games, not because of bad luck, but because we try not to concede rather than score, then fail anyway. Six defenders on the pitch until the 92nd minute? If a natural goalscorer, instead of a defender out of position, had been given the chance, perhaps we'd have scored. And if not, we'd still have had the defender in position for when they broke on us. Bringing Connolly on in the 92nd minute was taking the p***!

No, actually, saying post match that we'd done enough to win, and defending that bollocks, was really taking the p***. We had one good chance, put on to the post, and one half chance, from another defender, headed gently in to their keeper's hands. Other than that, where were all these great chances? We're not losing due to 'bad luck', we're losing due to six defenders.

I don't like the manner of Robinson's departure, but we can't keep blaming him. Carson wasn't our player for him to take, and anyway, we've replaced him with as good, possibly even better. We've got enough, individual ability to be doing a lot better, but sitting back and hitting teams on the break, which worked in League Two, doesn't work in League One. It hasn't worked all season.

We must win the next three games. Please, let's at least try to win them, and not just keep a clean sheet (then fail anyway).
