Great win, three on the trot. This team is now showing us what they can do when they are allowed to go forward. The great escape is on.

Superb first half and start of second. They changed things around after going behind, and pushed us back for a while, but we battled to keep them out. They managed to tackle Phillips as he was about to score, and managed to hit the post.

Horrible, niggling side, aided by a ref who gave us nothing and thought we were playing basketball.

Great win. Gibson or Shaw would have been my MotM.

Another great result and another awful refereeing performance. A clear penalty when Watts was pushed over. This referee didn’t seem to know what challenges were fouls and what were not.

Great result and fully deserved. Should have been a lot more and would have been had it not been for the worst and biased refereeing performance I've seen at the Mazuma for a long time. I counted four penalties in the first half we should have had (plus the red card for last man) and could probably count on one hand the number of decisions which went our way today. Liner on the car wash side was a standing statue and refused to make a single call all game.

Onto the positive though, great to see us grind out a win after the two dominant displays before, should give the lads real confidence that they can hold onto these leads rather than always squandering them. Great performances from Gibbo, Delaney, Weir and Watts.

Very well deserved win. I felt we should have gone in 2-0 up at the break but it was good to see us persevere to take the lead again and then successfully protect it (although I would have liked to see us defend from further up the pitch at 2-1 up!)

What a terrible referee - he did everything he could to help Cheltenham but we managed to win despite him. Still trying to make sense of the passage of play where he ignored a blatant Cheltenham handball and then gave them a free kick on the edge of our area for a clear-as-day foul on our player. We’ve had some dodgy individual decisions go against us but this was possibly the worst overall refereeing performance we’ve seen since promotion to league one.

I just hope we can go a step further and start improving the results away from home - starting against Cambridge please.

There have been times this season when I have wondered if football is clean and I must confess today's game makes me continue to wonder. It seemed like the referee was determined to help Cheltenham all he could and indeed the dangerous free kick he gave towards the end of the game was farcical. A Morecambe player was fouled and the referee gave Cheltenham a free kick on the edge of the box!! The referee is in his first season on the league list and like several other officials imo is nowhere near good enough and should still be refereeing games in his local park! Even if our beautiful game is clean it is being ruined by the abysmal standard of refereeing.

Great to see us be able to dig-in and grind out the result in the latter stages of the second half after a couple of comfortable victories.

Shot towards the home end in the first half last three games - seems like it might be deliberate as the tactic looks to have been to hit teams hard in the first half. Some of the football we played in those opening 30 minutes was sublime. Obviously Stockton's hold-up play is a miss, but we adapted really nicely to make the most of the quick short passing moves that Watts is able to facilitate. It was a big positive how we managed to overcome the loss of a key player - adapted a couple of things slightly, but broadly play in the same style and at the same performance level.

Phillips, Mayor and Gibson brilliant today. Gibson's cracking of the DM role has been massive. Going off his interview, I think he underrates his own ability on the ball. Weir and Shaw are something else obviously, but Gibson's ability to pick lines to be able to drive the ball into is great and very helpful for that position. Lovely eye for a forward pass as well. Second goal comes from him winning the ball and spraying it forwards. Feels like we've found a really good Derek formula.

Dodgy ref, the bar for fouls was all over the place and he bottled the big penalty calls. Good to see we were able to do enough for it not to matter today though.

The lino on the car wash side wasn't much better he had a perfect view of the Watts pen and did nothing.

Is Weir going to turn into a Wildig/Phillips midfielder and now start chipping in with a lot of goals for the remainder of the season.

We always thought refs were biased against the bigger teams but why on earth would someone be more biased to Cheltenham it's a fairly even match strange makes you wonder if he had money on the result.

I have been going on about the p*** poor standard of refs all season
But nothing seems to happen about it
Sky sports have Ref Watch when premier games take place discussing the strange ref decision’s only last 30 mins, perhaps if the showed lower leagues it would last longer but highlight the poor standard of refs the system lets through as ok
But we all know it’s a closed shop and no one will rock the boat and hold there hand up and say yep some refereeing performance’s are not up to scratch

Would be nice if referees were interviewed after matches like players / managers but can`t see that happening

It`s a very tough job but they don`t help themselves most of the time

Football is always so interesting, when it comes to how we can all watch the same game and see it so differently. Their manager was saying Alfie May was upset because so many decisions went against him... ...really??? And on their forum, someone complaining about their "garbage second half". I thought their best spell was in the second half, and we were completely on top in the first. They were lucky to go in level at half-time. Someone also going on about our commentary, "still complaining about the soft penalty appeal a couple of minutes before we scored". I'd have to see it again, I thought the foul started outside the area, but whether in or out, it was a foul and should have been a red card!

Forgot to mention, Ripley picking Alfie May up and carrying him away, like a toddler having a temper tantrum, is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on a football pitch!

Seen some posts on Social media about the booing of Donald Love. It is shit and needs to stop. Morecambe fans have never turned on their players, it is something that makes us stand out from other fans. Don't rate them, don't like them but don't boo them when they come on as a sub or defend a corner etc. The stick that Love got from certain fans at Port Vale was vile. I said at the time it might just be the modern way for the young(and some established) MFC fans but it isn't what this club was built on.

Besides that, the home end was brilliant yesterday. It is a proper roar now and a full end looks great from the Berlinwall.

Agree, the abuse Love got at port valve was embarrassing from a select few of our fanbase. The booing was disgraceful yesterday, but the dog abuse he got at Vale park was worse. It needs to stop!

Totally agree that booing our own players is not acceptable. I have said previously, that I preferred Cooney to Love, but that's part of opinions. Defensively, I think they are similar, but I think Cooney offers more going forwards. Yesterday Love was brought on as part of a shape change and did his job fine. He certainly shouldn't be scapegoated, as he appears to be by some sections.

If he's wearing a Morecambe shirt, then he deserves to be supported, 100%.

Totally agree Keith. It really isn't what this club is about and hasn't been about as we have climbed through the leagues and grown in numbers. Hopefully a good run of form will keep changing the atmosphere in to a more positive one in the stands because there has never been a home end as good as that yesterday.

Agreed regarding Love. I also don’t rate him but booing an honest player who is trying his best is really poor - it’s not like he’s an arsehole (think Tony Capaldi etc).

Cole Stockton downed tools, went on the sick, whacked in a transfer request, had his mates spouting on twitter, wanted to sign for a rival, cried to Alan Nixon, walked around the pitch and still gets his name sung. Donald Love isn't the best player we have ever had and gets the boo's, shouted "how are you even F'ing captain?" at Port Vale for shanking one down the line.
