Anyone know situation with the pitch

I know weather is due to go below freezing again tonight

I will be travelling to game from Blackpool so would like to know quite early if game will go ahead or not

Just had a snoop on the Pork Vole Forum, they are predicting a postponement. Let's hope they are wrong; we need to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.

If it's called off I hope it's done sooner than later to avoid travelling

Presumably Port Vale won't be travelling today and staying over in a hotel so probably an early inspection tomorrow will be the likely agenda.

I hope it is on - I am travelling from Bolton-le-Sands!

Referee will be taking a look in the morning, anything else is speculation.

It has been cold the last few days locally, warmer today and clear skies but it is still icey - hopefully it all melts away.

Tomorrow mornings Parkrun on Morecambe promenade has already been cancelled as it is slippy in places - but with the game being later in the day and the pitch being undercover, hopefully this gives it a better chance of going ahead.
Hello! Hello! We are the Morecambe boys!

I've nearly forgot what Derek Adams looks like with how long it's been since we've played.

On the plus side, we remain undefeated in 2023!

If they are frost covers the club should be looking for a refund, surely they should cope with this weather :(

Do they take the covers off during the day when it's above freezing or is it a major effort to take them up and relay them?

It's another slice of bad luck ;) Next one is Ipswich away and we'll soon have forgotten that we are on a roll  S***t!!!!!

Just seen a Facecloth post from Chorley FC they have put frost covers on the pitch and have heaters blowing underneath to try and get their game on today against Boston. The groundsman was stopping there all night to do all he could to get a game on in the Northern prem !!!: roll:
So, we have missed out on a high 4k crowd, corporate stuff and a chance to carry on our great home form for the cost of hire of a few heaters !!

Sadly their efforts failed, Chorley postponed their game at 9am.

Barrow must have slightly better covers - their home match with Salford is on.

Blackpool's home game v Huddersfield is now postponed due to frozen pitch. The only championship game off so far.

The problem we have is that the main stand positioning does not allow any sunlight ( the sun is always low in the sky at this time of the year) to get onto that part of the ground shaded by the main stand until mid afternoon hence there is only a limited amount of warm rays during the colder winter months.

Covers do offer some protection but it is the lack of direct sun that is the root of the problem.

If the main stand had been positioned where the away stand is the problems of a frozen ground may have been resolved.

A shame we're not playing, but at half-time, it is a perfect day for us! Can we end the games now please???

Cambridge and Accrington both losing 3-0 which makes our GD even more of an advantage.

Cheltenham now 3-1 down at Plymouth which is good for us.

Yup, would have liked that to be a draw, but all-in-all, not a bad day for us. With our injuries, and the new lad only just arriving, it may work out for the best, as hopefully, we'll have Stockton back, fit for the re-arranged game. Shame our good momentum was brought to a halt by the weather, but things haven't worked out too bad.
