In Tory cuts world, the government can cut, £500 million from funding for essential services, then give £50 million for a new project. That shiny trinket should stop people from even looking at the bigger picture?
It isn't "
sniping", it is true. Eden Project funding is excellent news for Morecambe, but there is real poverty in the town, right now, and nothing is being done about that, whatsoever.
According to a Glasgow University & Rowntree Trust report, between 2010 & 2017 local authority funding for Social Care fell by 14% in the most deprived areas, but increased by 8% in the wealthiest, with a 27% cut in funding over all local authorities funding.

EXACTLY Lisa Nandy's point!!! You are celebrating that other deprived areas didn't receive anything, but fortunately, Morecambe did, so all is fine & rosey.
I'm pleased that Morecambe has got this funding.
I'm annoyed that the most vulnerable people in Britain have sustained the longest period of real terms cuts, while the wealthiest in Britain have simply got wealthier.
It is possible to hold two positions at the same time.
