Good luck to Jon Obika. I had hoped that he could maybe be a Phil Jevons type of player - playing alongside a more physical target man and bagging some goals.

Ollie Crankshaw starting for Motherwell tonight. That's 2 with Morecambe connections playing in the Scottish Premier League for them.

Good bit of business unloading Obika. Allegedly one of the largest wage earners but has done precious little to justify it during his time with us.

We still have a big striker in Courtney Duffus of course although how far off being fully fit is he ? I thought he was quite near a month or so ago.

Club originally said he was out for the season. Another Robinson signing who didn’t impress me as being anywhere near league one standard. It would be good if Obikas wage could be used towards a free agent striker. Connor Wickham is still unattached. Might do a job till the end of the season. Not sure why he left FGR though having scored 6 in 16 appearances for them.

Think he was using FGR as a stepping stone and to prove his fitness to land a deal at a bigger club, but it hasn't happened for him just yet. I would have him in a heartbeat, but I doubt we could pull that off, his wages won't be cheap and he would want to be guaranteed starts.

Sounds as though Obika was isolated in what the Motherwell fans claim was the worst performance for many seasons last night.

He came on as a 2nd half sub but wasn't able on his own to change the outcome of the game.

One of their fans on their forum claimed he was a huge unit but very immobile but other players around him had no interest in the game. Crankshaw who we had on the books a few seasons ago was the only player who wanted to impress.

Feel sorry for Obika as he was injury prone for much of the time last season and as happens in football our new manager didn't feel he was the type he wanted in his squad. As appeared to be the case with Mullin under JB....and look at him now

Immobile is a good way to describe him he was too slow for League 1.

If he starts banging in goals for Motherwell then Scottish football really is bad.

That's a complete falsehood about Mullin. Bentley offered him a contract but Mullin turned it down to go to Swindon. We got a small fee due to Mullin being 23 or under and us offering him a contract on the same or better terms.

Well, Bentley played Mullin 122 times, having given him his League debut as a nineteen-year-old, then gave him a three-year contract, and as Little Shrimp pointed out, offered him a contract extension, which Mullin refused... ...but yeah, okay...

So how did that work out then?
