Morecambe 1 [Mayor] Port Vale 0 live(ish)

I'll be at the game again tonight. Port Vale were really poor when we played them recently, and we had to work particularly hard to be even worse. Hopefully, tonight, we will see a positive approach to the game.

I'd like to see this starting line-up:

________________Ripley_______________
______Rawson___Delaney___Bedeau_____
Mayor__________________________Gibson
_______Weir_____Shaw____Crowley_____
__________Mellon____Stockton_________

Shaw dropping deeper when needed, Crowley pushing forwards rather than coming back in search of the ball. Simeu, if fit, maybe instead of Delaney. I reckon that's a line-up that can defend, but still create chances.

Regardless of what we actually set up with, we MUST win tonight.

We're under the cosh from the off. We don't seem to know what to do with the ball when we try to go forward. Some terrible attempts at shots. Got to be a vast improvement if we are to get anything out of this.

Opposition players run into space and their passes usually find one of their men. We however, dwell on the ball and the majority of our passes go astray or are cut out. Any 50/50 ball seems to be won by more commitment from the opposition.
We looked better in the last few minutes , but we will need to keep it up from the start of the second half.

Not with Stockton up front on his own. We looked a bit better since he went off. Zero shots on target.

A must win game. No attack. One decent half-chance. Two very poor sides.

No-one I'm with can think of the shot on target, generous recording by the statto!

Only half-time indeed, and this is still very winnable... ...for either side.

Hope we come out looking better this second half. We haven't been particularly terrible, but we've been pretty uninspired.

Much better! Lovely goal! Mayor.

Superb block at 0-0 from Mellon, then a great save from Ripley, before we break and score. They've just shot narrowly wide.

I think this shows that sometimes we need to just be shooting.

Obviously that was a fantastic shot, but a lot of the time I feel like we hold on to the ball too long to try and get the perfect shot, sometimes you've just got to go for it. Had the keeper parried it in the other direction Mellon might have been there to tap it in.

Vale keep coming at us as expected. We need to keep tight, stop giving the ball away. We've got to win this!

Lucky with the offside there. We've been giving Port Vale the opportunities.

Need to stay focused. 3 points here is of utmost importance.

With that win we're back out of the relegation zone! Of course Accrington have two games in hand, gotta hope they lose those.

It's pretty tight here in the bottom-middle of the bottom half. Anything can happen.

Well now we can breathe again. Well done lads, a much needed win. It's sometimes hard to watch, not for the faint hearted. Onwards and upwards.
