Great result. Not really a classic and we rode our luck but it’s wins like these that will keep us up.

I’ve been critical of Arthur lately but I actually thought he played well. Lovely goal from Mayor, good to see someone taking responsibility and backing themselves to shoot and score.

Agree with all of the above. Gnahoua was excellent and worked really hard. Seven in defence invited the pressure, but we got a bit of luck for once.

Agreed , Arthur much improved on Saturday. Love had a really good game . Fantastic goal from young Mayor.

If Stockton's injury is going to keep him out let's hope that Derek can find a decent free agent to lead the line.

Lets not get carried away by Arthur's performance. He held up the ball quite usefully but basically shirked every challenge he should have made by positioning himself just out of range of the player in possession. He doesn't get stuck in and as far as I'm concerned he is a weak link in the side.

I thought we were a better team after Cole went off. Mellon stretched their defence with some good strong running which made the pitch bigger. Cole seemed to be back to his sulky worst and offers zero movement for the midfield when his head is up his own arse. Faz is in the form of his life, love watching him. I thought Mayor was poor first half and was on the end of a few bollockings from Gibbo. Great goal. Brilliant game management from Derek.

What Arthur does better than anyone is hold the ball up in the final third. He takes pressure of the defence and gets up higher up the pitch. Your comments are a bit 1980's sunday league coach.

Big three points. Rawson and Love standouts for me.

100%. He's got some really useful skills that both of our recent managers have been able to see. Very dependable for getting hold of the ball and carrying it a bit. I think people get fooled by his kind of languid running style into thinking he's lazy, but that's not the case. Also played fine on Saturday - wasn't great by any stretch, but far from the worst offender. Upped it last night though.

Got to say, I thought the first half was an utter shambles! I thought the first half vs Peterborough was error strewn enough, but this was even worse. Was well and truly gobsmacked, genuinely looked like nobody had played football in a couple of months. Only ones to come out with their heads held high were Rawson and Love, and Gnahoua partly by virtue that he was only on the pitch for about 10/15 minutes by that point.

That said, last five minutes of that half were better, and we absolutely tore into into Vale for the first 10 minutes of the second half. Got the goal, and it then became a bit of a grind. Couple of scares initially but held out well in the end. Think we rode our luck a little at points but that's football - Peterborough were fortunate with all their goals on Saturday - and it's nice for things to sway a bit more in favour of us from time to time.

Love and Rawson superb all game at the back. Not the prettiest/most fluent of performances from Weir and Shaw but they worked incredibly hard, Shaw throwing himself at everything. Gnahoua also very good and made some important contributions. Can't really argue with Mayor for MOTM as he was excellent, although Love could have nicked it if not for the goal.

I was saying it to someone else, but I kind of hope Stockton doesn't start on Saturday. I feel like we looked better after he had to come off.

Did you see the delightful turn, then nutmegged their player, by back heeling the ball? If a Premiership player had done that, it would have been on Match of the Day for weeks!

Funny how we see performances of our players so differently.

For me Love had a poor game with his passing at times awful.

Arthur couldn't have performed any worse than Saturday so last night was an improvement but still very weak in his defensive duties.

Cole struggled from minute one and I wonder if he was already injured before the game but did his best to play on regardless.

A poor first 45 that did get better in the second 45 BUT thank goodness Vale didn't have a striker otherwise it would have been another home defeat.

On the plus side Mayor took his goal well and showed others that having a go for goal does bring a result....more of that please :!:

Mellon tried in his more familiar role after Cole went off but for us to rely on a loanee who is still learning the game is asking too much..... :?:

Just hope our management team can find (or even afford) to bring in a free agent up front otherwise we will struggle.

I am puzzled that Berlinwaller thinks my comments about Arthur not challenging for the ball are like a 1980’s Sunday League coach. Expecting players to challenge for the ball are the expectation of managers from the Premier League downwards in this present time. No team can afford players who shirk tackles!

No, i totally agree that players should put a shift in and make tackles, in fact i called out Adam Mayor for pulling out if one right in front of us. Arthur offered a lot last night and was a big part of why we won, i just think digging him out because he didn't go off with a dirty kit is a bit out dated. He had a good game last night.
