I see Portsmouth had a decent result tonight....and a certain manager got a yellow card for berating the match officials...

Probably a decision went against his team - (that`s not allowed do officials not know that by now)

He'll make sure. they get the memo before Saturday's game. A couple of penalties and a red card for one of our players after being fouled, then having his own head stamped on, will set the record straight for him. Then. his crap presenter media-mate, will say it was entirely appropriate, and it was all Morecambe's fault, if they will lay on the floor after having their leg broken, it's obvious that our players would then be using our heads, to trip the lovely Bolton players' up and he hopes we get relegated, doesn't understand how anyone would ever want to play for for the Shrimpers, and Bolton deserve to win the Premiership because they have the sweetest fans in the whole of English football, if not the world. What a twat.

Just get someone to shout and ask him how Amy from Barrow is keeping and that will cheer him up.

Allegedly.

I reckon we need to win 4 out of the next 5 games  as I can't see us picking up much in April.

Tuesday's definitely a must win!

No must wins. Today proved we can get results against top teams. Win on Tuesday would be nice but I thinkwe will get enough points to stay up. It will be tight though

I disagree, games like Tuesday are 'must win' if we have any realistic hope of staying up. It is 'must win' for Cambridge too. If we win, we're two places outside of relegation, albeit having played more games than Burton & Accrington. Lose, and Cambridge are behind us only on goal difference, we're still in a relegation spot, and the two above us have games in hand.

We've got to start picking up wins against our fellow strugglers.

It is no use getting draws against a few top teams if we don't get wins against our relegation rivals as well :) . I think we could well have been in a very different position if the game against Cambridge had not been cancelled leaving us with 2 weeks layoff at the end of a winning run. We have to start that winning streak again and who better to start it against than Cambridge?

All 12 games remaining (a quarter of a season !) have to be treated as "must win" games. We won't win them all but if we could win 4 with a couple of draws I think 46 points might be enough.

If we can beat Cambridge then we will be 6 points above them and also have a superior goal difference.

We need to be safe before this date as the final day has..
Burton v MK
Cambridge v FGR
Oxford v Accy

...so some or all the teams (possibly) in the mix are going to be picking up points.

Last season all teams near the bottom were playing promotion candidates.

And the lion's share of the points must come from the 6 fixtures in March.

I predicted we will achieve 11 points for the 6 games and my prediction started with a point against The Trotters.

This is definitely going to go down to the wire. I will never forecast a loss but I reckon we may find ourselves in a bit of bother going into the last three fixtures, but will pull out of the drop zone with a few good results against teams likely to have nothing to play for.

Shrewsbury (a) Sat 11th Mar
Charlton (h) Tues 14th Mar
Oxford (h) Sat 18th Mar
Mk Dons (a) Sat 25th Mar
(maybe 6-7 points from these)

Barnsley (a) Sat 1st Apr
Plymouth (h) Fri 7th Apr
Portsmouth (a) Mon 10th Apr
Wycombe (h) Sat 15th Apr
Charlton (a) Sat 22nd Apr
Lincoln (h) Sat 29th Apr
(maybe 6-7 points from these)

Exeter (a) Sun 7th May
(point to stay up)

I reckon you've got it about right but think we can still stay up (just) with 12 points. :o

Playing like we did last night, I don't see us winning another away game. In the League Cup, we made Milton Keynes look like Barcelona, so I expect to lose that game, which will be massive.

That means, we need to get enough points from our home games. I think it now means we need to beat either Plymouth or Wycombe, as well as Oxford, Charlton [h] and Lincoln. I think we'll struggle to get more than six points from the remaining games, which almost certainly will not be enough.

Or, we could try to win away for a change instead of defend and not bother shooting? I bet we'll go to Exeter knowing we have to win, and relying on results elsewhere, finally play attacking football in an away game, win, but still go down because we've left it too late to change.

We started with a midfield three of Shaw, Weir and Crowley against Fleetwood. That's very attacking. Done by an early goal and our persistent problem with being able to breakdown defences sitting back. That's not through lack of attacking intent.

Against Cambridge, same set-up as against Bolton, with Derek mentioning post match that they tried to go man for man like against Bolton. Again, a pretty front foot set-up. Just lacked the intensity - in part I think due to some weird psychological block we now have away from home and potentially tired legs from the Bolton effort. Also doesn't help that we made lots of stupid errors in possession.

We've struggled in recent away games as we have done all season, but none of it in recent weeks was due to a lack of attacking intent.

Okay, let's agree it is not a lack of attacking intent, simply repeated attacking failure? If we continue to fail, perhaps something needed to change? Regardless, it isn't working and something needs to change soon, or we're definitely going down.
