Important that we didn't lose and after a pretty ropey 30mins it is a good point away from home. We created a few chances and Adam looked the best player on the pitch when he came on. I don't think we have seen such poweful running on the wings since Thommo.

Some of the comments on here from the usual suspects are laughable.

A point away at a relegation rival has to be a good point. Cambridge have been a bit of a nemesis for us in reason seasons including a 7-0 hammering under Jim Bentley.

Our destiny will be resolved in our home games from which we need to win about 4 . Any points away will be a bonus although MK Dons away would be great if we can get a win there.

The trouble with that is we are running out of winnable home games. Charlton, Oxford and Lincoln possibly but Plymouth and Wycombe????

Donald Love made a big contribution in our goal tonight and played well again. I think he has won his place back.

Probably not a popular opinion among some I know.

Have a look at the teams around us and their fixtures are equally as tough if not tougher. Accy have to play Sat-Tues pretty much to the end of the season as do Burton. I know we have to get our own house in order but it is going to be a struggle for every team in and about us to pick up points. Can see us all setting our alarm clocks for 2am for the last day decider at Exeter. I hope we can all start being a bit more positive as we look to stay in the third tier of English football for a third successive season!

The majority would have taken a point before the game.

Can't understand why some appear to be unhappy with that. Just be thankful that we got that point.

At this stage of the season I'd take us playing crap and getting the points.

Quinny's co commentator on Radio Lancashire was full of praise for the way we buckled down and ground out the point and showed a wee bit of character and spirit.

Well done lads....

I've now done that ;) I agree with your assertion that they all have tough games as well. IMO 46 points should be enough to stay up and 45 will result in relying on goal difference. We'll need a big following at the Exeter game

Not sure i would agree with that before the game.

On the plus side we have stopped the crap away form, but when you are playing a team below you it is surely an opportunity to want to win.

Result no use to either team really.

Having said that, towards the end I was glad of a point having seen the way Cambridge came at us and created chances and shots which we didn't do a lot of.

Still leaves us in a precarious position and 2 wins away from catching up with anybody while relying on them to keep losing

We are 1 point below Accrington and 2 below Burton and we have a better goal difference. 2 home wins next week and the picture would look much brighter.

It's a bit of an internal conflict. Given the actual performance, a point is a good result. However, given our position, we need more than just a point and must aspire to conquer teams around us, particularly given our quite astonishingly challenging final run in (at least on paper). I'd put our chances of survival at around 20-25%, and even this is perhaps being somewhat optimistic. Still, we are very much in a better position than FGR and genuinely have a chance if DA can work on our attacking options.

We spent years in a similar League position in L2, always fortunate there were only 2 relegation places, a lot tougher now

Have to say I thought for around 60/70 minutes of the game I thought it was an incredibly poor performance.

Similar set-up as against Bolton, but Cambridge seemed able to bypass this better than the Trotters did - perhaps having some better long ball targets in Ironside and Smith helped them out there?

Still, our composure on the ball was incredibly poor at times. Reminiscent of our recent Peterborough and Port Vale performances. Bad touches, poorly weighted passes either behind/in front of someone. It's absolutely maddening as we have players who are so capable. Where was the decisiveness and composure we saw building up against Bolton?

When we got into their final third I thought we looked very dangerous and Cambridge were vulnerable. We ended up creating some good chances from minimal amounts of good spells in the game. Was so disappointing how much we lost control of things as the second half wore on. In the end saved by grisly defending in our box and Cambridge's ineptitude in front of goal (they've been misfiring a lot recently, despite creating decent chances).

Going to have to be much better against Shrewsbury.

Composure , or lack of it, has always been an issue, only Crowley really has any

Really? If you don't expect an away win at Cambridge, one of only three teams below us, then you are saying you don't expect an away win anywhere, ever? We got very, very lucky last night. A bit of a fluke for Stockton's goal and their ineptitude in front of goal, that let us off the hook. On the basis of a poor performance, it was a good point, on the basis of trying to stay in League One, it was two points dropped.

If we are relegated, no-one can say we don't deserve it.

Too much to expect Keith to have a go at all those who predicted a defeat...... :?: :?: :?:

Still maintain that the vast majority would have taken a single point ((obviously 3 points being preferable) rather than sod all....

That isn't what you said...

redrobo wrote:The majority would have taken a point before the game.

Obviously, everyone would have taken a point rather than no points. But you claimed the "majority" would have taken a point before the game. I disagree, before the game, this was a "must win".

If you thought that this was a game where we should aim for one point, which of our remaining games do you think we can win, in order to avoid relegation?
