I know I will be shot down but I wonder if relieving the manager of his duties is our last hope to avoid the dreaded drop? Last night he offered little vocally to encourage the team and when all went wrong he did nothing to change the situation by making any substitutions. We are going down with barely a whimper. One last chance would be for Barry Roach to be given the job with the sole brief to keep us in league 1. I suspect a change in tactics with two upfront would improve us and give us a fighting chance. Some players seem to be uninterested in the fight and some are selected no matter how poorly they are playing. Some of the loan players seem to be trying to avoid injury and getting ready to return to their own clubs. A change at the top could give us a bit of a boost. Of course, any change might not produce the results we need but what is there to lose, under the present regime we are going down.

I think if you’re going to replace the manager to try and change things, you do it in January to give the new man a fighting chance. We had this debate a few months ago - putting a goalkeeping coach in charge for the last nine games is just clutching at straws.

The only way that Adams leaves early is if he decides to go himself and resigns - perhaps if he doesn’t want a relegation on his CV. Which would save us the compensation money. But I don’t think this scenario would enhance our chances of staying up.

Does DA's contract expire at the end of the season? If so there is less and less each week to pay it off.

I accept that removing the manager would be a massive gamble but what is there to lose? We are sinking like a stone and a manager who quietly watches the game and makes no substitutions is not what is needed. Something is not right with the squad but nothing appears to be done about it.

Absolutely agree with this. Comparing this squad to last season's, we have a much better squad and sadly they are underperforming.

I also don't think League 1 is what people say it is. The top 8/9 teams are obviously very good and could hold their own in the championship but the rest are average at best and all beatable.

I agree give it to Baz until the end of the season we have nothing to loose he lads always put a shift in for him and he plays a decent style. Just tell them to go for it and see where we end up it can't be any worse.

Also it gives us time to start he recruitment process early otherwise we will spend all summer looking for someone and all possible transfer targets will be snapped up.

Thanks , couldn't see it !

Never thought the day would come when 3,795 was a poor crowd at Morecambe. Do we know how many Charlton fans there were ?

If as seems likely it's EFL2 next season there is no way surely that our current BoD can give DA a new contract at the end of this terrible season.

Whatever is going on behind the scenes the players and management team are capable of so much more than they are giving at the moment BUT in defence of the team last night they play to pre match instructions and to have our 2 smallest players in the squad up front ( :?: ) with the new lad playing mainly on the left with Adam Mayor in midfield we presented sod all threat to their 6* defenders all night.

The no substitutes was unbelievable and serious questions must be asked of the manager and his refusal to change at half time. Someone in the media needs to confront him and ask the question as it defies all logic in my mind.

All credit to Charlton who put non stop pressure on our defenders...whilst we as usual our forward(s) played far too deep putting no pressure on their defence at all. This has happened in almost every game this terrible season and gives the opposition all the space to dictate play from the back.

Some on this forum are calling for a change NOW and I can understand their reasoning but somehow I can't see the BoD taking such a step and the best we can hope for is if DA resigns to save face BUT as we know he is not one for changing his style and throwing in the towel is not in his make up.

All season our midfield has struggled because for me their is no old head to guide the young loanees in the engine room and I'll say it again but letting Tooms go was a bad mistake and so for me it has been proved,

As for the new lad. he played the full 90 last night which was probably his first game since last season and showed fleeting signs that he has something that made him popular at Burton. I would have liked to have seen him alongside Cole but no chance of that.....

So we now face Oxford on Saturday and if we get nothing out of that game it's almost an end for the time being of our life in EFL1. :(

To hear the fans behind the goal sing 'we are shit and we know we are' and to boo at the end of both 45 minutes must surely give concern to the BoD and the prospect of a dramatic fall in crowd figures and revenue going forward as we contemplate life once again in EFL2 albeit with a new manager hopefully.

Something needs to happen off the field in the coming hours if we are to survive and calls on here for a change in management are understandable. I'd be more than happy to see Baz but in temporary charge supported by Neil Wainwright as before with a policy of 2 up front and closing the opposition down as we did v Bolton.

Finally will their be a change in the coming hours :?:

Unfortunately I doubt it and to expect a stubborn DA to throw in the towel is asking too much....is it... :?: :?: :?:

I can't believe Quinny didn't ask about the subs in his post match interview.

You would have thought he would have at least taken the new lad off considering he hasn't played a game for ages.

Maybe the media would like to ask that question but fear a reaction from DA knowing how quick tempered he can be.

Would any of us put ourselves in that position...I suspect not.

I think you will probably be correct, but, last season we went there, needing to win, and did. Perhaps history can repeat itself?

Still in shock at yesterday’s performance. Why you wouldn’t bring any subs on I have no idea? I think Derek has lost the changing room. Yesterday, we had no real system, no plan going forward and looked unfit and lightweight. I drove 2 hours to watch it yesterday and I am still really disappointed with the performance. Sadly I think Derek does need to go but I think if he doesn’t resign there’s not much chance he’ll get sacked as it’ll cost the club money. Quite depressing at the moment.

Too proud to call it a day.

Can't see DA here next season whichever league we are in because of the negative football under his management.

Gates remain good only due to the incredible cost of Season Tickets which I would expect to be increased next season and with it a drop in Sales.

I said at the start of the season, Derek's style of football works in League Two, not in League One. Perhaps that's an argument for keeping him next season? It could work again.

Or, he could stop being so stubborn, and change our style, just in time for a great escape?
