Next Season

I'm ever the optimist, I accept now we're down. So who would you like to keep? For me Ripley, Crowley and Hunter. But I suspect Crowley will have offers from elsewhere

Would keep Gibbo, Delayney, Budeaux, Rawson Crawley. Rippley will be out of contract so will probably move on. Think Hunter is too lightweight but if Crawley moves on who knows. Think Donald Love has another 12 months to run and so too Melbourne. Don't think any of the loanees would return if in league 2.

But Dereks the king isn’t he?!! Surely it’s not his fault he’s been so pig headed in playing one up front for the last few games and not prepared to change tactics?!!!! I’m sorry but in my book he’s partly responsible for us ultimately getting relegated! I’ve watched some guys then heard Dereks post match interviews and wondered if he has been watching a different game?!!!

Bizarrely, I think most of the first team are good players and we should be a half-decent League One side. But, we're going out, trying to keep a clean sheet and nick a goal, and repeatedly failing to do so.

Ripley,
Gibson,
Bedeau,
Simeu,
Crowley,
Rawson,
Mayor,
Smith,
Delaney

The basics of a good side there. Even Love, who was having a decent game, then messed up his basic defending , that led to their goal, is a reasonable player, especially in League Two.

DA relied on loanees in midfield and it simply has been above them. They are not used to fighting a relegation battle having come from clubs where their experience has been mainly at U21 level .

We've needed some experience in the engine room all season.

This has been DA's team...so he can't blame any previous manager.

Ripley; Love; Rawson; Melbourne; Taylor; Hunter; Weir; Shaw; Watts and Bedeau just a selection of players he signed with only Stockton; Delaney; Gibson; Gnahoua; Cooney from the previous manager with only Gibson from that selection being classed as a regular starter. Otherwise the team on the field for the majority of the season have been all his signings.

Enough is enough.

Love, Bedeau, Rawson, Melbourne, Taylor, Mayor all in contract for next season.

Can't imagine Crowley will want to play L2 football. Wouldn't shock me Ripley got offers from other clubs too. Hopefully keep Smith, Gibson & Arthur.

Could see Mayor being sold in the Summer, especially if we go down. A number of clubs have been scouting him throughout the season

Arthur? Personally wouldn't have him in the National League.

I know I'll be shot down but how many defensive mistakes will Love be allowed to make before we realise he is simply not good enough. He cost us the game today not for the first time this season and why on earth he is captain escapes me.

To be fair, until his mistake that led to their goal, I thought he was having a good game and worked bloody hard. He put in an excellent, dangerous cross, but in true Morecambe style, we only had one player in the box, so easily marshalled out, and he was involved in most of our attacks. I bet a 'heat map' of Love yesterday would show he put in more miles than anyone else on the pitch.

He was also involved in our 'penalty shout'. I've watched it back a couple of times and I think it was a simple coming together, and not a penalty, but in order to even shout for a penalty, he had to be in the penalty area, one of only two players who were attacking? He couldn't do everything. If it hadn't been for his misjudgment that led to the goal, he would have been my MotM. Even with the error, he was one of our better players.

Unfortunately I agree that Donald Love isn’t good enough for this level. He tries his best but his individual errors have cost us a fair few goals this season.

Melbourne and Love on two year deals and Derek complained about Robbo tying the budget up.

Agree with Keith on this one, since the turn of the year Love's performances have been pretty good. It's frustrating as in recent months he's shown he's decent for this level overall, but the past two games have seen him make key errors in very similar fashion that have led to goals. Happens to all players and his overall performances in those games were good, he does a great job at offering width in attack, but it's hard to look over two errors leading to goals like that in two games.

Can get a heatmap here: https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/16500 ... -Morecambe

Pretty key in build up but also plenty of touches in the opposition's half. Can see how important he is to maintaining width. It's worth popping up the maps for the other wing backs that game for comparison. 77 touches, while everyone else was low 40s.

And on the potential penalty incident, the MK player 100% has a check over his shoulder to block Love. He knows what he's doing.

Robbo signed a lot more than 2 players on 2 year deals!

And some of Robbo's 2 year deals were on high wages , O'Connor turned down another contract from Bradford City to come to us as did Delaney at Bolton.

The heat map & touches is really interesting. The heat map shows how rarely we touch the ball in the opposition area, and the heatmap with individual touches shows Love is consistently one of our top players in terms of being on the ball. If a player is covering that distance AND touching the ball so frequently, they are far more likely to make an error. Some people only see the errors because they want to be on is back, while some other players are going missing in games, but not getting mentioned.
